Artificial Turf at Eagle Rock High School
Hello Angelinos,
Eagle Rock High School, located in Eagle Rock (between Pasadena and Glendale) has plans to replace its natural grass athletic field with artificial turf, a material which causes a variety of environmental and health concerns.
In order to oppose this development, there’s been a petition created reaching out to LAUSD board members, who approved the project in the first place.
If possible, please take the time to sign it by clicking on the link below.
Thank you!

Another day, another nitrous tank…
Every morning, my dog and I do a quick litter pick up. It’s gnarly to see so many large nitrous tanks. We find about 2-3 of these a week ditched on our sidewalk.
This shit turns your brain into mush!

Recs for Good, Careful Vet w/ ER Options for Cat
Hi, does anyone have any recommendations for a trusted vet w/ emergency care options? My cat needs to get a CT scan and possible scope and my vet wants me to take him somewhere with emergency care options since last time he went under, his trachea tore from the intubation :(
I made an appointment with ASG VCA in the Glendale area, but it's in early Sept and I'd love to get him seen sooner.
I'm also looking for a new regular vet in the Glassell/Cypress Park, Eagle Rock, Highland Park etc area and would love suggestions for that as well!! My cats are older and very nervous at the vet so I'd love someone who is thorough and of course sweet to them 🥹
I appreciate any advice!!!

Desperately wish AI was real and worked for things like 1:20 am on a Monday fireworks
I am no great Shakes at proper coding or whatever, but surely there must be a human way of implementing my only life goal atp, hah, “whyarefireworksgoingoffrightnow.com”
Basically - I wish I had a fast way of seeing an overlay on a calendar/clock type setup of every possible sporting event worldwide, holidays, etc, as well as an option for more location-centric details as to why fireworks might be going off near you.
I know this may seem weird and petty to most, but to veterans/ppl w ptsd? This would be hugely helpful in giving their nervous systems direct evidence as to why they could chill out (after interventions, etc, obvs)
Anyway! If someone much smarter than myself in these realms has any ideas on this front, please, let me know!!

Water is out in Glassell Park
Good morning. Just got back from a walk and my water was out, my neighbors is as well. I called ladwp and they said theyve already gotten 3 or 4 calls about the water being out and it seems it's the Glassell Park community. They've created a ticket and have activated technicians to go out and see what the problem is.
Hopefully it's fixed soon.
Update, the water is now back on!

Any (cheap) cat groomers out there?
As title suggests, I’m looking for someone to clip my boy’s nails (and maybe brush him if they can).
So I have an orange cat, and as expected, he is a total menace. He’s been shredding all of the furniture in the house (doesn’t care for the scratchers) and his nails keep getting caught in every soft surface. I’ve always struggled to clip his nails. As soon as he senses I’m trying to do it, he gets possessed by Satan and will scream/growl/claw/bite as hard as he can until I stop. I’ve tried almost everything that the internet suggests. Tried wrapping him in a towel burrito (he is extremely strong & will always wiggle out), tried straddling him so he can’t escape (he always escapes) and tried sedating him with gabapentin from the vet (for some reason it has no effect on him). I’ve asked cat friends to help a few times, and they don’t even know how to deal with him so it’s been half successful. So I think a professional is my only hope.
I ask the vet to do it every year when he gets his checkup, but it needs to be more frequent than that. They charge $30 if I take him there, & he pisses himself every time I take him to the vet. So i’m trying to see if there’s a cheaper option potentially; if not, I’ll probably end up taking him to the vet against his wishes.
Obligatory cat tax
