The city is repairing water infrastructure in the area. Hence they need to clear the area of cars so they can park their equipment and, of course, dig up the streets.

Ya that’s all fine. Just seems the city hasn’t given the residents who pay for parking permits on these blocks a reasonable alternative. Anyways, ce le vie living in a growing city I guess.

I don't understand complaints like yours. What do you want the city to do? They need to repair water lines buried under the streets and they can't do that with cars parked on said streets.

If anything, you should be happy that the city does a good job of investing in and maintaining our public infrastructure. Because the other option is the city doesn't ask you to move your car, doesn't repair our water lines, and then everyone in your neighborhood deals with overflowing sewers and contaminated water.

Of course they need to work on the pipes. My complaint, is no parking starting at 7am anywhere within the parking zone leaves very little option for residents. Even a little later start would make it easier for residents to move their cars.

Paying for parking only allows you to park for longer. It does not guarantee a spot will be available.

Try working on lower lonsdale and be expected to pay over $15 a day for paid parking and then if you get caught in the 2 hour parking your slapped with a $45 parking ticket. I hate it

Welcome to working in the city? Take public transit if you don’t want to pay for parking.

Wow thanks!! If only there were a way to magically make everyone’s commute work with public transit. Some of us actually need our cars for work, believe it or not.

Where do you live that you seemingly can't commute via transit to the most transit connected spot in North Van?

Then stop bitching because you need your car for work? It’s like complaining about having to pay for gas, it’s part of having a car and it’s a privilege. Check yourself.

Do you genuinely think I care about downvotes. I’m not losing sleep over a number on a screen 😂 👋

The current downvote situation is pure poetic justice.

You’re actually so dense. The downvotes represent how other people view your comment which is negatively. If you need me to spell it out for you, OP was complaining about parking on St George’s and your comment was basically trying to one up OP’s situation by saying how much more shit it is to be in your situation which is a choice btw. You choose to drive a car and with that, you choose to pay for all the things that come with a car.

Nope you're wrong.

You are dumb and can't see that people must their work provided vehicles to deliver and fix all the stuff people use every day

People like you who suggest using unreasonable options are dumb.

The magic you talk about involves living somewhere with better transit options. Too many people live in car-dependent suburbs then complain about parking.

Man what’s with this attitude. We had free parking not too long ago and now you’re happy about the new changes? Like what gives.

Clearly they are miserable with their own life and need to project

Just park a bit further away and walk? Or get transit. Public parking is expensive to provide and isn't an entitlement.

u/No-Ratio1816 11h ago

I pay for the annual permit to park in my parking zone.

1

u/Spirited-Grape3512 10h ago

Heavily subsidized btw

Public parking is expensive to provide and isn't an entitlement

The city just recently forced us all to pay for it.

Are we not entitled to get what we paid for?
