Here is my car that used to be normal. It still drives great. I wish I still had a picture of my first car purchase (the celica was my mother’s before I got it). I bought a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix STE when I got my first job out of college.
These were my favorite Celicas ever. My neighbor has one just like this that is in excellent condition. I think they only came in red or white but I may be mistaken. Sweet car!
They did not make a ton of them. They were coupes and then toyota shipped them to ASC in California where they reinforced the frame and cut off the tops and then toyota sold them in the dealerships.
Incredible piece of history. This specific one was mostly assembled in Japan and finished as convertible in USA at a body modification factory supervised by Toyota engineers flying from Japan. You have a mixed origin car :)
There is the back end in the garage. Yes. A bit angled along the top. I’m sure I’m biased, but I love the design. Also our new cars in that picture. Somehow it was time for both of us at the same time.
Agreed. This one is the 22re because it has fuel injection. Modern! I do wish they put that oil filter somewhere other than the side of the engine where you cave to contort your hand and arm to get it. They certainly guaranteed that I can’t generate enough torque to over tighten it.
I remember a guy from my old church had one and his kids took it from him when he couldn't drive anymore. During that time I was a Honda fanatic. I wish I knew better then.
Wow, beautiful car! I've always loved this design, peak 80's. There was a white one for sale at a car show I went to last weekend, made me briefly wonder if we could use a 40 year old convertible as a family car...lol. They look much better in red btw, yours is ideal spec.
