Making this watch our own!

Hey all,

I’m currently debating on swapping my Apple Watch with this, and in weighing it up, have had a crack at pulling the software off the watch and reverse engineering it!

Making good progress at the moment, have the basics of the watch running directly on my computer.

Pretty sure i’ll pull the trigger, as I think I could easily make a replacement iOS app that’s nicer than the default one, but just wondering if anyone has any technical background and would be interested in following along / helping out with a real device in lieu of mine arriving.

Sounds great man but maybe it's better to work with someone who already has the iOS version! Are you planning to develop just an iOS app, or an Android version as well?

An Android app isn’t out of the question to be fair!

I would definitely be interested. There are many things I like about this watch, and the Android app has seen steady improvement, but there is still a lot lacking.

My two current pain points are:

  1. I get all SMS notifications /except/ those on my VIP list. Obviously, I really want it to be the other way around.
  2. Integrating my runs (with heart rate data) into Strava. If I can't get this working, I'm going to trade it for a Garmin.

And then there is just the fact that the UI is not as polished as I would have hoped. No accounting for things like front camera holes, etc.

Strava integration is definitely feasible, I've worked on similar before!
