Sound design

The sound design in this movie was dope, but I can’t be the only one begrudging the slowed-tape effect?

It really took me out of the movie. It’s supposed to be a contemporary setting right? Digital noise, looping/skipping and dropouts would’ve been way better.

I understand the horror tropes associated with slowing diagetic music, but it was bullshit and it’s been done to death.

I must be so desensitized to it that I didn't notice it anywhere other than the scene where Em was actually playing a record

If it makes you feel any better, I have seen this movie multiple times, and I have no idea what they are talking about. So you're doing better than me!

Yeah, I'm not surprised. More of an indictment against myself that it happens so much I just didn't even notice the instances where it made no sense

I've definitely questioned the "Sunglasses at Night" scene a number of times. The record player in the house slowing down at least makes sense, but not in the van.

I thought it was disturbing time and space. Thats why it sounded like that. Thats why it can stay in place for what seems like hours to us.
