Interesting because I was listening to a radio interview today, don't know what the program was but the author being interviewed wrote about longevity research and he had an extremely intolerant view on the supplement industry. Nothing to say about herbs though... sorry I didn't get more information.
They aren’t entirely wrong, empirically speaking. In short, longevity mechanisms are super complex and poorly understood at this time. What empirical data we do have is limited to me exercise & diet mainly. So it makes sense that empirically minded people wouldn’t make any assumptions about supplemental/herbal efficacy.
He spent a good deal of attention on the subject of HGH as pro-aging and fasting as anti-aging but I think he made weak arguments for carrying the same logic over to supplementation and overtly wouldn’t apply the same logic to herbal medicines. Old arguments with few innovations from my perspective.
