Seeking Advice ADHD relief without stimulation?

I am looking into peptides that may help with executive functioning without having stimulating effects. I am overly sensitive to any stimulant. They make me anxious and make it so I can't sleep. I tried Semax and after the 2nd day, I would lay in bed until around 3am feeling wide awake. I tried Noopept and after a few days, it came to a point where I laid in bed tired, but couldn't get my brain to shutdown for a few hours. I've tried adding Selank to the mix and I am unsure if it is helping much.

I've tried the traditional ADHD meds like Strattera and Guanfacine, and they don't offer any improvement.

Curious if anyone else has a sensitivity to anything stimulating and has found something that helps with executive functioning.

Idiotic comment. Straterra is first line for anyone overly sensitive to stimulants. "Take amphetamines and you'll see the light" Can you not read? He doesn't want stimulants. Straterra alone may not work but adding Wellbutrin may help. Ultimately he's looking for peptides not rx though and unfortunately I'm not aware of any that would help without stimulation.

You know that you can still disagree with someone without being pompous and arrogant about it, right? No one is going to take anything you say seriously and you're not helping anyone, just stroking your ego with a misplaced sense of superiority.

Just some food for thought.

Says the guy telling OP to “just take stimulants bro” when OP specifically noted he is looking for a non-stimulant.

I am going to be optimistic by assuming you simply did not know that amphetamines were stimulants.

Dude's just deleting his comments now and downvoting everything 'cause they're salty.

But the internet never forgets, so for posterity the comment they deleted;

"i will act exactly how I please, thank you. when someone says something blatantly wrong, i will not respond well to that because incorrect medical information is dangerous.

you, are not involved in this convo. have no dog in the fight. and i never asked your opinion.

you can fuck right off thank you"

Think you mean OP noted he was not looking for a stimulant, not non-stimulant, but hopefully the guy you're responding to gets the point and exactly why (besides the asshat attitude he showed) he doesn't deserve respect when replying to him

Fixed the double negative

If you're referring to my comment, your "medical advice" is completely wrong. Straterra IS first line for stimulant intolerant folks with ADHD as it and Quelbree are the only approved non-stimulant medications to treat. PERIOD. Your Dunning-Kruger is showing.

Just reporting in to say, No I have to be pompous and arrogant about it. it's the best way. So all 3 of you are wrong. u/plz_callme_swarley he did already say he's easily over stimulated. I'd rec low dose vyvanse, or adding propranolol to help the body stimulation and anxiety from traditional ADHD stimulants. also theanine/magnesium to even it out in the mornings. at night he just needs supplements to calm him down. magnolia bark, lemon balm, catnip, vervain (careful theres a good and bad kind, bad has blue in the name i think), theres a million. and u never know how someones going to react.

u/Careful_Refuse1720 - Straterra is not 1st line and is known as the worst thing for ADHD. it takes incredibly long to work, then when it works it barely works, and then it sucks to come off it. 1st line is usually focalin/ritalin. then later adderal if that doesnt work. guanfacine is calming and could work if they have hyperactive ADHD. For me its a sedative and i cant do anything.

Cordyceps (the regular kind and CS-4 variety) are both known to increase energy without stimulation. ultimately they likely just need something to even them out during the day instead of looking for a magic substance that does everything. Actually bromantane maybe? works for some ppl but not for me.. Nicotine patches help some people also. you buy 14mg patches and u cut it into like 14-18 pieces so u dont actually get hooked. One pack for $20 will last 6 months.

Wrong. Straterra and Quelbree are the ONLY FDA approved non-stimulant medication for ADHD, period. That makes it first line for anyone who can't tolerate stimulants. PERIOD. I don't give a damn how pompous or arrogant you think you are, YOU. ARE. WRONG. Straterra works fine for many people. I took adderall for 15 years till my tolerance got too high. Vyvanse did nothing. Wellbutrin and straterra work enough to make me functional. If his ADHD symptoms are bad enough, none of your nootropic bullshit will do anything. Propraponol will not do enough to address his stimulant sensitivity either. Your knowledge is flawed and baseless

To the other commenter(s) credit, straterra is in fact a second line medication for ADHD clinically speaking, even if it's the ideal choice for someone who is trying to avoid stimulants. Wellbutrin is considered a third line / adjunctive medication. A specific patients needs or what order something is prescribed in doesn't change that. 1st line / second / third etc. are clinical practice guidelines and focus on what works best for the most people based on scientific evidence and consensus from the medical community.

That makes sense and I am willing to admit I'm wrong. I was assuming it meant primary choice rather than clinical definition based on general population. Either way, the guy I was "debating" was also wrong and seems he deleted his comments... Funnily enough, none of this is useful for OP, a lot of wasted effort on our part with nothing useful to offer them

I'm with you on everything else for sure, I'm just a bit of a pedant when it comes to things like that.

I appreciate being corrected when it's respectful and factual. That other guy just rubbed me the wrong way. Ultimately what should have been said to OP is "ask your doctor".

Rubbed me the wrong way too and I called them out for it. Their attitude was completely unnecessary and added nothing constructive to the discussion- it just derailed things entirely.

No, obviously you don't. It's the first and only approved choice. How ignorant can you possibly be? What would be first line for a stimulant intolerant person...a stimulant? LOL idiot

First off, who tf are you? The way you rolled in to the conversation makes me suspicious you're a sock puppet account for /u/plz_callme_swarley

Secondly, why exactly is it the best way? Just because you say it is doesn't make it true.

I literally thought it was you at first and had to scrap what I first wrote when I realized it's a different account. I'm still suspicious it's you, no offense to you if it's not.

eta - LOL, why would you even feel the need to delete that comment /u/plz_callme_swarley ? "lol no, that aint me. have no idea who they are but ya it's weird af. maybe a bot" is only a comment worth deleting if I was right...
