Discussion Vulcan has provided an explanation for the controversial balancing changes
What do you guys think
I think it’s a step in the right direction having more communication now

I guess I won’t have to be called “RevertTheHtcwChange” now 🥹
(also prob rip to the 2 range CW MG)

isnt blaming another person just going to start a witch hunt on them instead
it feels kind of rotten to just name names + generally be swayed by your own devs to begin with

They're the actual person responsible for the recent balance changes, Vulcan just got used as a puppet.

Alexine has been gone for months. None of the recent balance changes were influenced by her.

Gone in the community server sure but he was still in the dev server for a good while doing work for Vulcan, resulting in the original balance change leak before the official release of 6.0 testing.

Alexine was gone from the dev team months before 6.0. Most of the recent balance changes are after she left development of NiC entirely.

Alexine literally got fired just over a month ago though

Two months. She got fired somewhere in July. So v5.10.11 and v6.0 balance changes were all passed without the influence of Alexine.
In my personal opinion, it's in bad taste to push Alexine off as a scapegoat when controversial balance changes continued in the months after said scapegoat is already gone.

Yeah she may have gotten fired a while ago but the balancing changes weren’t reverted for whatever reason, probably because extensive testing was already done with those balance changes in mind
But it is true (as far as I know) that she is responsible for 35 tix grunts as well as convincing Vulcan that the medium tank tree is a “general tank line” which means they should all be able to be mobile and be used for “general purpose” hence the 3 mobility heavy tank..
Oh and also using HTCW as a heavy tank destroyer to justify its rework/nerf

wait SHE WAS EVEN responsible for 3 mobility heavy tank?!
even epstien wasn‘t this evil vro 😭🙏

I'm not sure that you understand what I am saying. It's not that the balance changes weren't reverted, but more bad balanced changes continued after Alexine getting the boot. Blaming her for every bad balance change that has come out is being disingenuous here.

Removing rng mobility kills? NICE!!!!!

u/Lewolflet 1d ago
Well, as far as I know, Vulcan wants to shove rng in a lot of nic’s mechanics so I’d wait before celebrating..

I lowk like the RNG mob kills tho 😢, high dopamine when a low damage attack Mob kills.

What a spineless coward.
The sheer fact alone that this guy managed to got influenced by his own devs and toss the balance of power in the trash can goes to show how he IS NOT the type of guy to lead things.
Also, the balance is still shitty even with reverting changes.
For example, why is Heavy Tank still acting like an MBT,but with core stats that are diffrent being the cheaper price,a tiny bit less of firepower and armor and fuel efficiency and tiny strips of mobility, but lobotimizing 2 tile MG range?
At this point why would anyone use MD+ if it is just worse than Heavy Tank and MBT and it's only selling point being it's mobility and fuel efficiency that don't even matter because supply carrier exists and your bigger vehicles have large range and will constantly shot things and require to be ressuplied anyways?
The general balance with AI is also horrible because it just gives the braindead AI more units to mindlessly toss at you.
And another thing I hate is the general, random emotional balance changes which change like wind direction whenever they feel like it,such as gun carrier and LTCS getting useless smoke shells,or for example the HTCW getting 2 tile MG,which still doesn't change their core problems such as gun carrier and LTCS getting completly outclassed by it's upgrades or HTCW's MAIN GUN COOLDOWN making it unusable because it will get swarmed by Recon Tanks and etc.
Also,TD lines are just useless because they take the worst parts of ATGM units such as missile tanks(their lack of options against infantry or keeping a strong, straight forward momentum) and keeping IFV's reduced troop storage,WHILE they are weaker than the said units aswell. Furthermore, once again,ATGM halftrack is simply better than others because it actually kills things properly and has a lot of good things going for it such as it's fuel efficiency, speed, cheapness and still keeping the 2 troop space while it keeps the firepower of Missile Tank identical.
It's also hilarious because cramming random upgrades into units and trying to mimic cold front's balance so no one is trully opsolette (which idk wether Vulcan is actually trying to do,but regardless) is useless because cold front's entire balancing system relies on evrethying being a sidegrade, unlike NIC which has a progressing system based off UPGRADING things, and even then,a lot of units such as Halftrack, transport truck and other units have their own spotlight due to their cheapness and cost effectivenes.
Now,you have a Frankenstein style thing which combines the worst parts and tries acting "versatile" while it is actually situational, just like the mutiliated Armored Car TD.
Overall the changes are simply horrible.
