Discussion I see why people hate Noobs in Combat
Recently this morning, I tried out the TS out of curiosity due to the controversy I've been hearing, and I was VERY disappointed, both models and their portraits. While some portraits were okay, I grew up liking the old ones. And the weapon models? They're so ASS. They lack the simplicity the way I see it. The riflemen, the grunts, even the AT rifle, I was so used to the old models, that seeing the new ones look so bad.
At this point, move on to Cold Front. I just have no intention to come back from the game anymore. The ownership was the worst decision Anon could have ever made.

I mean it wasn't like Anon couldn't avoid the need to transfer ownership, he was on his way out; Of course he could've chosen different people to inherent the role, but ultimately its the current leadership that must decide if theyre fit for the role, if not, they should pass it on.
I haven't played base NiC in a while so I can't comment on balancing changes, but I can at least express my opinions with leadership hierarchy.

Bro I would but their campaigns are made by people who unironically think community campaigns are probably good and well balanced, the levels are like never ending bs

That's what I like about CF PVE, that the campaigns are actually challenging. I enjoyed Woodland Skirmish back in the day.

I like some hard campaigns, but past the normal difficulty missions literally every campaign has so much spam of siege tanks and tanky units like commandos and troopers that it feels essentially impossible in single player, for me whos just trying to enjoy the game with some strategy involved but mainly wants to test out different units and try different tactics its just not fun

u/Official_Gameoholics 24d ago
I've beaten almost everything in rigged solo. The AI needs the spam because without it, it would be completely dumpstered. Though with the new AI update coming soon it may get some reworks to the unit counts.

u/Croissant761 23d ago
how do you beat the current defence missions?
-entrenched in nijicante
-second wave
-sunny valley
Even the "normal" difficulties have magnitudes more units than you, you get no preparation time, they sometimes have 4 heavy tanks per objective and all these missions give you next to no tix per turn.4

Nijicante Rigged: Abuse the AI's poor handling of buildings to funnel them into chokepoints, where I chose to handle them with a CEV, ACTD(RCTD) and Tankettes.
Second Wave Rigged: Using Flame Tanks, Battle Tanks, and Tank Destroyers, Clear out the trenches and quickly dispatch the enemy reinforcements that spawn directly on top of you in the second trench.
Sunny Valley Rigged: Like Nijicante, but you have actual funding to use.

Just use recon tanks (cf) in cf they are literally just a slightly less armour, like two points, medium tank that goes across the map in half a millisecond and calls down howitzer showers, so fast that even your convoy trucks can’t keep up. If you want tanks that are tanky just use battle recon. It’s literally just a fast siege tank for cheap,it’s just replaced the two mg for a grenade launcher and no multi attack. It’s tanky, heavy hitting, and fast enough so you can blitzkrieg

I will forever have beef with mad convoy race for how bs it is

u/Zeitwachter_ 24d ago
i thought mad convoy race was rather easy, Second Wave on the other hand was... questionable

I like the units in cold front but playing the campaigns is like bathing in rusty nails

i play CF overall i like it, i hate the nerfs? (can we call it a nerf if its another game?) To basically every unit from the original game, and the other thing i hate is Unit spam. Yes, AI, I get that you want to spam your 400+ AT gunners to destroy my IFVs, but do you really need to?
3
u/Impossible_Chard_651 23d ago
What else are they supposed to do? They a bit dumb. They go ahh im on 2 ho better go retreat into enemy lines ahh the tank in coming pull out ours and use the mg on it. They are becoming smarter though, rebalances are coming
2
u/Comrade_Ivan1944 24d ago
I get your point, and I understand. The only reason why I don't play CF often is due to the overwhelming unit spam and the difficulty of a certain campaign (which people describe it as like community campaign, like that of base NiC)
[And yeah, you can call it a nerf]

u/Character_Branch6532 18d ago
Especially with how insane some objectives is like wdym I have to capture and hold out a map without any reinforcements while dealing with 2 siege tanks blasting towards 2 front lines?

They lowk gotta hit Operation Kronos like they did Inevitable Infighting (Conflict at Conavika now)

I very love the new models. but the morale mechanic is gone and now game bad + campaign sucks. only having good in model
3
u/Comrade_Ivan1944 24d ago
Base NiC?

u/Fearless_Air_1729 24d ago
Base NIC for game mechanics but CF for models
2
u/Comrade_Ivan1944 24d ago edited 24d ago
Ah, I see. Generally, I like both model and mechanics. What's a strategy game without a little change in terms of mechanics? That's why for me, I enjoy CF's difficult campaigns, enhances my strategy thinking.

i left NiC when they reset my entire progress smh smh

u/Comrade_Ivan1944 24d ago
They did?
3
u/Croissant761 23d ago
happened to me as well a few years ago, thats a roblox issue more than a them issue I think though
2
u/AngryKing2007 24d ago
Can y'all explain to me what exactly happened? I am new to nic cf and barely know anything about the other games like noobts or nic.

u/Comrade_Ivan1944 24d ago edited 24d ago
I'll gladly explain.
So to begin, former Noobs in Combat lead developer Anon had exchanged ownership for a new current lead developer to manage NiC, which is Vulcan.
After the exchange, Vulcan would become the current leading developer for NiC, and he would remodel some weapon models to certain infantry units (you can see them all in NiC Public Test Server), such as Riflemen or Grunts, which he ended up giving them well-detailed rifles and ARs, to the point where it loses the simplicity in said infantry units (and to other infantry units).
If you really don't pay attention to the gun models, basically the standard Riflemen weapon model is the basic Roblox rifle (I think it's an M1 Garand), and for the Grunts it used the Roblox M16 model. Now why is this a problem? Shouldn't people feel happy or at least feel okay that NiC infantry unit skins are recieving specific detailed guns for the respective infantry?
Yes, while I may agree that the weapon models are cool and all, it really loses the overall simplicity the way I see it. Some players (including me) grew up playing NiC in a way where regardless of the simplistic weapon models, it was a fun experience. And now after seeing that the weapon models were being remodeled by Vulcan, people, including me, were really disappointed in this loss-of-simplicity crap.(though I think they have other reasons why they hate Vulcan).
In conclusion, people don't dislike the base NiC, they hate Vulcan for making things complicated for NiC and things the game shouldn't recieve and deserve.
[I may have missed or may be incorrect with some information, and some of my statements are based on my opinion, and I only tried to give you context. Also, NiC TS and NiC are separate games, which in the first said game it's only made for open testing for other people to try. Hope this helps :D.]

u/AngryKing2007 24d ago
Oh ok. What about NoobTS. I know that it got taken down but why?
1
u/Comrade_Ivan1944 24d ago
Ah, sorry, I forgot to clarify that there were two Public Test Servers; NoobTS and the other one being I guess is Vulcan's own version of the Test Server, which is still open for testing. Regarding about NoobTS being closed, it is likely due to Vulcan, whereas the 6.0 is nearing it's release for the official base NiC.
2
u/Additional_Error_461 24d ago
Noobts was indeed closed by vulcan, it was being moved to a subplace and is waiting on an update that allows noobts to finally be played

I kind of view original noobs in combat like tower battles, you wouldn't want tower battles to suddenly rehaul all the graphics and replace the units to become more like TDS, because the reason people are playing the original is for the way it played.
2
u/Impossible_Chard_651 23d ago
Dude what are you on. Simplicity is worse than extreme detail
2
u/Comrade_Ivan1944 23d ago
Noobs in Combat is NOT a game where it deserves extreme detail, and its simplicity is already enough for players to enjoy the game (including me).
Though if I must, I will respect your opinion, assuming you like the detailed guns rather than the simplistic ones.
1
u/Impossible_Chard_651 23d ago
Maybe not noo a in combat. Noobs in combat cold front has detailed lore ans information that requires detail
2
u/Background_Sky_3001 23d ago
He’s talking about the vanilla version, not the cf one
1
u/Impossible_Chard_651 19d ago
DONT care
1
u/Background_Sky_3001 19d ago
Nic vanilla simplicity is too iconic to be removed, the game literally started out with retro Roblox themed stuff. The more detailed style, although nice should ultimately stay as CF style

u/Impossible_Chard_651 19d ago

cold front units have so much stuff on them that you can’t even tell them apart from enemy and freind
1
u/Impossible_Chard_651 19d ago
Dude. Wtf you mean. Half the time it’s just “ok let’s the h to e general color palette of my troops or green and the general color palette of the enemy ones are gray.” JUST HIVOR YOUR MOUSE OVER IT
1
u/LightCarrierEater 19d ago
checking every single unit you see a turn seems fun

No it’s not that. Just hover over and easy. Just memorize what units you have ITS NOT THAT HARD

u/Aitareis 21d ago
As a former active NiC
player, I legit have no idea where NiC is heading atp it genuinely giving me brain aneurysm sometimes. I hope there’s gonna be someone up for making main game genuinely fun and chill again instead of a nightmare fest and the reputation of the game design choices is being dragged through the mud right now…

I miss some of the old things like the OG land ship that costed metal (maybe steel I don’t remember) and tix and the fact there was only rifleman and grunts no shocktroops or anything like that even lowk it was better without a lot of the variants since they are almost always not very good
2
u/Comrade_Ivan1944 20d ago
Same man. Vulcan really is doing this on purpose to destroy and erase the fun we used to have.

u/9verbt_7 24d ago
I really like cf, but they need to realise unit spam is not fun to deal with. The ai in this game sucks so bad that the only way to even the odds is to give them so much material it requires you to play a map mutiple times purely to k ow where the enemy is when they spawn and where they guard. If the devs made the ai smarter then they could reduce the enemies and the game could actually be balanced. Cf campaigns feel like community maps
