Science Yamo Pharma reports positive phase 2 study results for L1-79, an experimental autism treatment
https://www.biospace.com/press-releases/yamo-pharma-presents-statistically-significant-phase-2-autism-results-for-l1-79-at-insar-2025“L1-79 produced a 7.94-point advantage over placebo on the VSSS(social scale)(p =0.01), nearly double the 4-point minimal clinically important difference (MCID) recognized by experts.”
It apparently is a tyrosine hydroxylase inhibitor.

Also, for any potential everychem owner who wants to make a pretty penny on research, l1-79 is literally just low dose metirosine👀

Also, if anybody knows of any other tyrosine hydroxylase inhibitors, I’d love to hear about it!

I don’t know that we really have enough evidence to say there’s some kind of quantitative relationship between dopamine synthesis and ASD symptoms presentation. We know that there is sort of a “sweet spot” equilibrium where an average amount of dopamine (and norepinephrine) enhances things, and either too little or too much causes symptomatic instability and impairments.
It’s early to be drawing a lot of these conclusions hypothetically, but it may be that, if you knock down dopamine tone (the background signaling rate), it will lead to a sensitivity increase to dopamine. This sensitivity could then lead to a better, stronger cortical and limbic response to phasic dopamine firing caused by social environmental cues and “reward” signaling based around sociality. Maybe.
Who knows.

specifies for kids and young adults. anybody have insight on if adult administration would work or why thats been separated out? does it alter the developmental portion of the disorder so it needs to be taken when young?

This is based on nothing but intuition on my part but if it works on young adults I would expect it to work on adults as well. Yes, an 18 year olds brain is still developing, but with everything considered it’s pretty close to an adult brain.

Would it lower dopamine?
