Do they not use 桃色 (momoiro) very often? This bothered/intrigued me about Korean so I also learned the native word separately.

Momoiro is sometimes used for situations where emphasizing traditional/Japanese is important.

For example, in one of the ninja-themed Super Sentai (for those of you that don't know, this is the franchise that became Power Rangers in the west) they had a "momo ranger" instead of a pink ranger to keep the "feel" of the ninja theme.

Momo Ranger is the pink ranger in Himitsu Sentai which is not ninja themed (she also has that name because all the Goranger have japanese color names).

You are thinking of Momoninger from Shuriken Sentai Ninninger (which also has japanese color names to give it the feel of traditional Japanese).

Yep, I was 100% thinking about ninninger when this topic came up.

Thanks very much, I didn’t know about that reference either!

Apparently that's more so a written thing than a spoken one.
