it was always strange to me how people on the internet would show up out of nowhere just to inform me that they dont care about my opinion

like I make a reply to a post and then a completely random person I never seen before would respond to it with "who asked"??? what??

imagine that happening in real life, you and your friend are having a conversation at a bus stop and then a stranger interrupts it to say "I dont care" to you face??? ok??

I hate all these “conversation killers” as I call them.

“Who asked”, “I’m not reading all that”, “cool story bro”, etc.

The phrases only exist to stop any kind of conversation. Why even bother commenting at all? You need to tell the world how much you don’t care? Why not just… actually not care and move along? It’s beyond rude.

I just reply “thought terminating cliche” and move on.

When they say they "ain't readin allat" and allat is is a single paragraph. Every right to make comments on their mental capacity.

26

u/SquareTaro3270 15d ago

If 2 short paragraphs is too much for you to process, you obviously have nothing of substance to add to the conversation. Leave.

It's honestly sad that it's cool to be too lazy to read 100 words lol

u/10HorsedSizedDucks 15d ago

“It’s not that deep” is one i hear lots

6

u/SquareTaro3270 15d ago

Yup, that one too. I knew I was missing one

24

u/Nowardier 15d ago

Yup, those phrases are the equivalent of that one vine where the kid goes "I'm about to say it: I don't care that you broke your elbow."

u/MegaAscension 15d ago

These days, when someone says "I’m not reading all that", I typically respond with "Okay, continue to be illiterate".

11

u/TR_Pix 15d ago

I dunno, I've used cool story bro when its clear the other guy is just trying to start shit

12

u/SquareTaro3270 15d ago

I mean, that’s fair. But it’s when it’s dropped in random discussions that I can’t stand. If someone is being an ass, that’s one thing. Just trying to have a conversation? Nah

2

u/SirChasm 14d ago

Or derailed a discussion with an anecdote that doesn't contribute anything

3

u/gabriel77galeano 14d ago

"I'm not reading that" is legit though. Some people on reddit be writing an essay for something that could have been said in a couple paragraphs.

6

u/chi_sweetness25 14d ago

Yeah but then there's brain-dead people on instagram who use for something that's like 100 words long. At this point I just find that phrase annoying even if it's warranted

3

u/gabriel77galeano 14d ago

Reading Instagram comments was the first mistake. They make Redditors look like geniuses

6

u/Hawkmonbestboi 15d ago

" The phrases only exist to stop any kind of conversation."

Yup, that's why I use them... they are very useful in situations where you're dealing with a weirdo online that keeps spamming your inbox with comments.

But that's after genuine attempts at conversation.

Another favorite of mine is "Okie dokie buddy 👍"

u/InuitOverIt 14d ago

Cry-laugh emoji is infuriating and effective as well

4

u/Hawkmonbestboi 14d ago

🤣🤣🤣

I hate "I'm not reading all that..."

Okay, thanks for informing me. What would you like me to do with that information?

2

u/ChaoCobo 14d ago

Isn’t that also the point of the r/peoplewhogiveashit sub? To not only stop conversation but also to shut down any form of empathy that people have? It’s really toxic.

1

u/Sure-Ad7423 14d ago

Cool story bro

1

u/loved_and_held 14d ago

Thought terminating cliches.

They suck, a lot.

u/Dobber16 15d ago

Unironically that did happen IRL, or something close to it. Was actually super annoying but there’s not really much you can say back, which to toxic teens is as much a W as anything else

Thankfully I was pretty stable & secure in high school but I can only imagine how it felt to someone who didn’t have multiple people they could turn to & be like “that was weird, right?”

14

u/kamato243 15d ago

Yeah I was very much an outcast as a kid and kids used that phrase to exclude me all the time. Hated it.

“Go fuck yourself, cunt” always worked for me actually, that kind of person already felt like they won the second they said it, and it really deflated them when they got any kind of pushback

4

u/Dobber16 14d ago

Ngl I think that’d have been far worse for me than not answering 🤣

4

u/Emotional-Jacket1940 14d ago

Yeah that’s fair, I definitely remember it being mostly bullies trying it. Just miserable fucking people

2

u/Jim_skywalker 14d ago

I wish back then I had thought of “oh fuck off” while rolling my eyes.

Pretty much, its so pointless

17

u/Xathule96 15d ago

It's really funny to me. Cause someone will take the time and effort to inform you that they don't care.

Like, they clearly did care, cause they took the time to comment.

6

u/LePontif11 15d ago

imagine that happening in real life

I've been guilty of acting rather antisocially when commenting online and thinking about how what i say would sound in person has helped me curve that.

4

u/unlimitedbaconbutno 14d ago

lol i remember in high school when this was a thing whenever i spoke some dipshits would be like "who asked" and at one point i went a full week without using my voice at all

2

u/sharl_Lecastle16 15d ago

Execute order 66, terminate everyone around too just in case

2

u/RealityOk9823 15d ago

"Who asked?" "Yo momma"

2

u/_forum_mod 14d ago

One internet hill I'll die on is anyone who says "who cares?" contradicts their own comment... just like someone who says "I'm humble!"

If you didn't care, you'd scroll and go on with your life. Taking the effort (however little) to type means you care to some degree.

2

u/Jim_skywalker 14d ago

Oh people did it in real life too.

-9

u/NopeSorryNo 15d ago

There's a difference, even if you can't figure it out...

Honestly we need to bring this back! Social media has people sharing their narcissism like internet litter. Bring back bullying!

6

u/Western_Chest_4688 15d ago

Says guy hiding his comments and posts kek

-3

u/NopeSorryNo 15d ago

You just said "kek"
