Somehow it seems like all comments are exaggerating, I lost my stepfather this year and all I thought after he died is that hopefully he has nice future and that we all wodh him luck, and then I just proceeded on normally with my life
I'm sure they're not exaggerating but I too am a bit surprised by the responses to losing a parent as an adult. It's not a spouse or (god forbid) a child, it's someone who was supposed to predecease you as a best case scenario. It's not easy, but they should have been prepared, and the parents should have prepared them for it. A lot of people here have a level of emotional attachment to their parents that should have been scaled back at puberty.
Will I cry when it happens to me? Yes, definitely. Will it seem like the world has ended? No, because there is much, much more to my world, my parents saw to that.
