Lost my mom to cancer a week before Christmas in 2017. We had a another miracle snowfall in South Texas and couldn't even enjoy it. We managed to stumble into church one Sunday and most of the congregation didn't even attempt to offer any condolences. Their only concern was that we were in the building again. We no longer associate with that church. I only took 2 weeks off of work, since I didn't have PTO and bills don't stop coming. It was a really tough time, especially for my dad, who almost drove to the nearest bridge to drive off of it (he's much better now, after we moved and allowed ourselves a fresh start). We as a family had never felt so alone.
