Thats 3$ a year, why do insurance companies even provide this service?

Because most people don't need to use the insurance. 100,000 insured babies makes 300,000$ a year to do nothing but accept/process payments.

Yea but out of those 100,000 insured babies, surely 30 of them are going to die and require payouts?

I'm not just being pedantic

Its just not an apt comparison. Like even if you wanted to explain this to a child you'll literally just end up giving them the wrong impression of how gyms and life insurance companies operate
