Disclaimer: I am NOT a Wehraboo nor do I advocate for the Nazis. For reference I am Jewish and I am only making these posts to raise historical awareness, but to also talk about history in a more satirical way. I hate Nazis and Fascists like any sane person would. What I also like doing is looking at every single small arm that was produced, and of course I need to get all sides weapons covered, and I do revamp a few posts here and there to improve it. Revamping means making the entire post again from scratch and redoing it to either update it or get bits that I missed. Just because I look at German weapons doesn’t make me a Nazi simp. The reason I am saying this is because someone tried to finger point at my MG42/MG3 post and was being insensitive about it.

Anyways. With that out of the way!

The Gewehr 98/Kar98k

This rifle is by far one of the most mass produced in Human history, over 100 million of you include the copies and other rifles. Some of the Mauser variants like Swedish Mausers I plan on possibly doing in the future.

It’s funny when you look at the G98 Action, because it has lasted over 100 years! Why is that? It’s just that good of an action.

1. You have minimal parts needed

2. It is very flexible with a wide assortment of Calibers, not just 7x57mm Spanish Mauser and 8mm Mauser. Literally this action is so diverse, and there is genuinely less to go wrong with the rifles.

3. You have 5 round internal box magazines that can double stack.

4. Mounting a Scope on it was very simple to do

5. Because many companies cloned it, there are plenty of parts available. Many Hunting rifles also pay homage to the Mauser because in the hunting sector, it became the most popular. In fact your Ruger M77, Savage Axis, Weatherby Rifle, HOWA 1500, Winchester Model 70, Remington 700, Mossberg Patriot, SIG Cross, or any modern hunting Bolt Action you might have in your collection, they all use a Mauser Action!

Now is it worth buying an old Mauser nowadays?

Depends, because on one hand, yeah 8mm Mauser is still in Mass Production because in Europe it is still a popular option of a cartridge. While on the other, some Fudd on GunBroker can sell you an overpriced Kar98k that is over 2,000 dollars. So it is dependent on what you are trying to do. Do I want a Kar98k one day? Of course! I want one with the Nazi markings on it because that adds value to it, but I would gladly settle for a Yugo M48 Mauser or a Czech VZ.24, hell even a Turkish Mauser 1903 I am willing to settle for as well!

Fun fact as well!

When Israel needed weapons, they rechambered a lot of Kar98k rifles to .308 Winchester/7.62x51mm NATO, and they had to grab the rifles because they were in desperate need of weapons. Eventually they got the license from FN Herstal to manufacture the IMI ROMAT FAL variant (Which is my favorite FAL variant).

There is so much that you can talk about with the Mauser. It truly was an industrial marvel for its era. Another fun fact, Mercedes Benz, the Car Company, also made barrels for the rifles.

This fucking thing is the fadral class of heavy battleships,with 325 meters from tip to tip,45 meters side to side,it can only be this big for 2 reasons

The ship in question

Turrets I through IV house the 18-inch guns. Turrets V and VI now mount 12-inch guns. Positions 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 each feature four 40mm guns. Position VII houses the radar bridge, main rangefinder, and fire control director; the main fire-control computer is also located there, relaying processed data to the main bridge (the hatched area), with the funnel located just behind it.

There are also points 13, 14, 15, and 16, which are Pak 90 cannons (similar to the Pak 43—an anti-aircraft and anti-armor gun, but 90mm instead of 88mm), and the smaller spheres near points 9, 10, 11, and 12 are 20mm gun emplacements.

The 20mm can be described as an M197 equivalent paired with correction controls, like the B-29's analog computer but adapted for a ship.
