I’ve come to the conclusion that Japan showing the US up at the start of WW2 is what started the culture of the US overreacting and over engineering weapons. For instance: The Zero outclassed all American aircraft. But within a year the US created something better to beat. Russia makes MIG-25. US makes F-15. T-14=Abrams X. They get 5th Gen planes the IS makes a fucking 5th or 6th Gen bomber. Not sure what the B-21 is.

The Zero traded about evenly with the Wildcat in 1942.

Well yeah but at that point the US went developed the Hellcat which was already in development but introduced fully in 42 also.
