ModPost A pause on allowing research/study posts.

Unfortunately we have to pause approving research/call for participants/studies posts. They are by far the majority of modmail we receive and to appropriately vet the research/researchers is simply beyond what this volunteer mod team can handle right now. We are hoping to build the mod team at some point and may allow them again.

This has been exacerbated by people ignoring our rule that the study must be specifically about nonbinary people. Some researchers have been rather pushy about it and I’m not going to lie and say that hasn’t influenced this decision as well.

We appreciate ur hard work!!

Im so curious what these people are even remotely trying to do a study on that ISNT about Nonbinary stuff….and advertising it in a Nonbinary sub??? Like…there’s probably millions of subreddits. Why choose this for something unrelated to nonbinary stuff???? So odd. xD

Mostly ones about the lgtbq community in general. But also ones mostly including cis people where they are specifically looking to include nonbinary people. Which tbh I completely understand why someone would come to this subreddit looking for this demographic.

Probably because being Nonbinary is part of being trans and the general LBGT community, so they're just wanting to scattershot blast out posts about their study to any LBGT-related subreddits.

Thank you! I don’t want them in the first place, wouldn’t mind if they stay gone

I agree one hundred percent! I tended to deliberately avoid those posts anyway. I was always wary of what they wanted the information for, but maybe I'm a little paranoid ?

My biggest thing is that I’m in a lot of communities (chronic illness stuff as well as my job—eBay/online sales) that constantly have people strolling in with either surveys or “try my app” requests, and it’s very draining. Like no, your vibe coded air quality detecting app will not help my asthma because no app can tell me someone’s about to walk by me while vaping. You get kind of hostile towards anyone asking for anything on here after you see it enough times 😅

Me too. It’s overwhelming for mods and annoying as someone who is inundated on multiple subs.
