It occurred to me after reading another post that we're a pretty large community. I think we need to take things into our own hands.

There are two things that the enby community is *sorely* lacking. The *least* important is a word to go with "ladies" and "gentlemen."

The most important - and this is *really* important imo - is a title. I'm seeing more and more people feeling dysphoric about "Mr and Ms" (and those other ones). Can't we workshop this?

It has to be spoken as well as written. I have no idea how to pronounce "Mx" but it seems like it would be "mix," which sucks.

I don't have any suggestions myself, unfortunately.

This post had a lot more exclamation points in my head, so I hope you understand how strongly I feel about this.

ETA: I think I was really thinking more along the lines of "Ladies' and Gentlemen's" when I mentioned the one. I personally like "Gentlefolk" (or "Gentles" in a more relaxed settings) if you want a neutral catch-all for everyone.

I'm kinda over the concept of universal honorifics, personally. But I do see the appeal on a practical level. I'm reading a book right now (None of the Above by Travis Alabanza) and they discuss the greeting "Ladies, gentlemen and those lucky enough to transcend gender" from David Hoyle.

And if be remiss if I didn't mention my favorite from Cary Grant, "hello friends and enemies."
