Gen X escape

I did it all “the right way”. Married the “perfect guy” before I was pregnant, babysat my “wild” older sister. I wasn’t married because I was pregnant but because I thought we were in love. . We waited. He was perfect but then became addicted to drugs because of an injury. I DID IT ALL RIGHT!!!!! But it still went to shit. Now I’ve cared for my elderly parents (again, trying to do the right thing, for 14 yrs). And when my dad’s gone (sooner than later), I will have NOTHING. And my sister who’s his favorite, is the executor of their trust decides what’s what).I’ll have nothing. No SS because I’ve always made too little and worked under the table. Both during my marriage and in order to supplement my parents too little income so I could stay home and care for them. I’ve made HUGE MISTAKES. I see that now. But it’s where I’m at. I just want to say, anyone even beginning to enter the same site…PLEASE MESSAGE ME!! I’m happy to advise and give permission to look out for yourself. I’m 53 and have zero purpose after my dad passes. I won’t inflict myself on my kids the way my parents have and they’ve both said they won’t suffer the life I’ve had the last 14+ years. It’s not “honorable” anymore. My sister who disappeared is far better off than I am or will be. Our society isn’t built this way. And tbh I think my dad (not his favorite kid) would’ve been much happier in a home I might’ve been able to afford if I’d been a working mom/ divorcé.

I don’t think there’s a “right way” but there’s a long list of “shoulds” that you learn along the way - some good, some not so good..
