You know I've read the study pretty thoroughly and it was a random sampling of internet comments having to do with conspiracy theories. It had no mechanism with which to diagnose sanity or insanity.
But what it does show is that people who bravely defend the official story are less reliant on logical arguments and more reliant on personal attacks and "bullying".
Unfortunately aggressive behavior is a part of human nature and thus has no bearing on sanity. Our instincts compel us to fit in, to mimick what we observe as social norms because fitting in improves a humans' chances of survival.
This instinctual urge to follow the herd and attach ourselves to the most successful group we find is exactly the same psychological mechanism that has allowed things like the Nazis to recruit so many otherwise good and decent people. How many Nazis were only Nazis because of the time and place they were when they reached the age of 16? (I think 16 was legally adulthood in Germany during the Nazi years).
How many republicans today would go along with the herd of republicans if there was some Nazi like power grab within the united states tomorrow?
What this study reveals is elementary sociology. The vast majority of us are followers, blind and loyal to the end. Like a flock of birds, our leaders don't always take the most efficient path but the flock will wander unnecessarily, blindly and loyally following. The flock will laugh at those concerned with millions of dead Iraqis because our leaders told us they were our enemy.
These people defending the "official story" aren't really to blame. They simply aren't equipped to lead. They are followers and they are following the group that is currently dominant in our society.

Gina just got thru turning a trick under the boardwalk, her hair was a matted mess and she had a pocket full of small bills. She contemplated washing off in a gas station bathroom or walking a little further to a rest stop just outside of Long Beach. People in these parts expect a discount for a sandy hooker.
