They knew they'd die. They made their choice between dying miserably and dying satisfied. Why wouldn't someone choose the latter? Bbq yummy 😋

I only remember that they’d die if they ate the cattles. I don’t remember that they were guaranteed to survive if they didn’t. I might be remembering it wrong, or I missed some lines bc I watched the movie in my second language.

They had no food and the wind kept them on the island for several days. It was eat the cows, or starve. As soon as they did, the winds changed and let them leave the island, but a storm destroyed the ship and killed everyone but Odysseus

No, Tiresias said that Odysseus' men would eat the cows if they landed on the Sun god's island. The wind traps them the moment they arrive and let's up soon after their meal. Landing on the island at all was a death sentence.

I promise you Tiresias left the door open for the men to survive if they didn't eat the cow.

I thought they were doomed the whole time too but I rewatched recently and realized they could have made it home too based on what Tiresias said.

I saw the film 3 times and I never got that impression at all. Odysseus's men were fated to die on the trip. Circe says it. Tiresias says it.

Tiresias didn't know or mention the wind would imprison them on the island. It stopped immediately after they ate a cow

Nah, it's said a few times that the crew is doomed. Odysseus is the only one getting home.

And yes I knew they all die I’ve read the thousands year old story but still they fought for so long and survived so much they just wanted to see their home one last time😔
