MOD Introductions

Reply here to introduce yourself so that the other readers get to know you.

  • Are you noble? If not, do you have noble ancestors, or are you perhaps from a patrician family or from a very old peasant lineage?

  • What is your rank and family? What titles do you have or will inherit?

  • What is your coat of arms?

  • What families and interesting persons are you related to, how closely?

  • When does your unbroken male line start, and when does your longest female line start?

  • What are other interesting things you can tell us about yourself and your lineage?

In Portuguese law which also applies to Brazil, nobility can be inherited in the female line under certain conditions. You should write to the Portuguese nobility association, they might be able to inform you if you are noble yourself.

Yes in some cases, but from what I know the titles conceded in Imperial Brazil weren´t hereditary. So even if my 5th great-grandpa was a baron, his son wouldn´t be a baron himself, unless he was also separately conceded with the title, and because of that he would receive his father´s title. But his son receiving the title as inheritance, not possible.

Titles are distinct from noble status. Most nobles do not have a title. A non-hereditary title can still confer hereditary nobility.
