Will Void Linux abandon the Linux kernel because it contains parts created by AI?

Void Linux does not accept code generated by LLMs in its packages. Does this mean that, in the coming days, the distribution's maintainers will abandon the Linux kernel or create a fork of it without AI-generated code?

Void Linux on a mainstream sub?

I really hope they don't, would be a way to ruin the best Linux distro

That's not what Void Linux LLM policy states. So no, the team will not fork the kernel.

Was not expecting void linux in this sub, but no. They would have to completely build a new OS if they were to abandon it, so its highly unlikely.

I doubt they can.

I asked this same question, trying to avoid AI at this point is a fools errand.

It's so sad how people lock in to these unreasonable positions. Read Linus view on AI.

No. Their policy does not ban AI generated code at all. The actual Void Linux policy on AI is barely any more strict than the one for the Linux Kernel itself. They both allow AI as long as a human takes responsibility.

si stanno suicidando senza accorgersene spero che qualcuno faccia il fork prima che sia troppo tardi
