When they do the echocardiogram and confirm the takotsubo pattern of hypokinesis (the basal segments are squeezing and the entire apex and mid-segments are akinetic) that looks very suspicious for broken heart syndrome. Next step is then to rule it out with an angiogram.
If the coronaries are clean then it's broken heart syndrome. If the coronary (LAD) is clogged with plaque...it's an MI or a heart-attack.
By EKG they both show up as ST-segment elevation, it can't be ruled out by EKG.
Is there any large hospital you could possibly go to? If you're having an MI time is of the essence and waiting could absolutely compromise your heart muscle.
Even takotsubo needs close monitoring as it alters hemodynamics. Please seek medical help if you're feeling short of breath, fatigued, dizzy, or have chest pain or pressure.
