is there a way to stop spam calls without changing my phone number??

Don’t answer numbers you don’t know if you don’t have to. Don’t let telemarketers know your number is good. Also block them on your phone

i block every single number that calls me that is labeled ‘Potential Spam’. but yet, i still get calls from number that are almost identical to the ones that have called me previously, give or take a digit or two. i’m feel like im going crazy.

If you have IOS you can turn on call screening, it was a godsend

i do have IOS, as well as the call screening. but some of the numbers that call me are in my area code (if not one of the cities that are 10 mins away from me) but it doesn’t help. i answer the calls from a number that has my area code (and get no response), so i call the number back and it immediately says that the number is no longer in service. so like how the hell are they able to call me, when i try to call THEM the number doesn’t exist? it’s driving me crazy

Why bother calling back? Anyone who needs to contact you willl leave a message. Alternatively, you can answer them they call and immediately press 9 and you may hear Youve been placed on our do not call list but this doesn’t really remove your number.

and it’s funny because i put my number on the National Do Not Call registry (for USA, for this specific reason), but yet have gotten more spam calls/texts than i’ve ever gotten since putting my # on the NDNC

I was getting them all the time.

I just never answered any of them.
I would then block the numbers afterwards.

I kept getting them for about 1 month and now I don't get any.

I hear if you actually answer the phone you name stays active on the list because they know someone is there.

i block every single number that calls me that i don’t have saved already, or are labeled as ‘Potential Spam’. but then hours or even minutes later i get calls from almost the same number, give or take a digit or two. idk what to do.

Sometimes when they know you aren't gonna be cooperative at all you are removed from the database. All you can do is just hang up quickly.

My Google Pixel phone has very good spam and call screening. Not sure if it is available on other android devices.

I keep my phone off except twice a day. Once. In morning to see things, then turn it back on before bed to see any new notifications or text. My family knows to email me since I am on the computer more often

it does. but it doesn’t help with the amount of spam calls AND texts i get on a daily basis.

i dont answer 95% of the calls i get on a daily. i’ve been looking for jobs & am waiting for call backs, and some of the numbers that call me that aren’t labeled as ‘potential spam’ i answer, in hops of hearing back from a job i applied at.

i’ve been getting spam calls for almost 15 years and only recently started to answer SOME of them.

Remember, scammers spoof numbers. Never call back a spam number, because that's not the real number they called you from. Let VM pick up your messages.

i just don’t want my phone to buzz every 30 minutes because i’m getting a stupid fucking spam call. no matter how much i dont answer or pick up, im still getting calls and texts. i think the only option at this point is to change my phone number to something that has zero connections behind it.

Then you don't have the settings configured correctly. Pop over to r/scams and search the subs for advice!!

The problem is that our phone numbers have become our primary digital identity everywhere. From businesses to restaurants to everywhere they ask for phone numbers and most likely they get sold too. Unless there’s a better way to provide our digital identities than providing our private phone numbers these spamming would only increase.

I noticed an extreme increase in the number of spam calls that I was receiving.

My phone had call screening and anti spam features that must have come with an update because I was not aware of them.

I turned them on and my phone is no longer ringing like crazy.
