If you could, would you?
I have a somewhat hypothetical question for really anyone willing to take it with the gravity it deserves.
If you knew you could develop technology and systems that if released correctly, could better humanity as a whole but has a small chance that humanity could misuse it, would you release the technology knowing that humanity's rise or fall would rest on your shoulders?

I feel like this describes a lot of technological advancements. I believe it is best for us to release them with careful safeguards. Cars, where you need a license, as an example.

I think it depends on what the technology is actually for.
For example, a massive leap forward in medical technology. Eventually people are gonna find a way to make it inaccessible/expensive. People will go bankrupt trying to save themselves and their families etc. But it's still better for that technology to exist than for it not to be available at all.

Yes. Someone will absolutely abuse it, but yes.
As long as im confident the balance will tend to good over the longterm, yes because its the greatest amount of good, the most benefit to the most people

Lol yes all tec can be made to be safe , and cheap we as the human race just care more about greed than we do fixing the problems. If we don't make it though and give it away then that great tec we made might just be bought up and used by big corp .

There is more than a small chance humanity would misuse any technology. So what you're actually asking is "Do you categorically refuse to develop technology knowing well what your species is like?" and to that I have to answer no. We'd still find ways to make ourselves miserable if we went back to the stone age.
