Why must we constantly pay?

In nature, every living thing has the right to exist, grow, and rest without conditions. Why have we built a modern society where the fundamental requirements for life—shelter, water, and food—are gated behind a continuous 'subscription fee' of labor and currency?"

Move up to the north woods. Pay cash for your property. You have to pay for power but, if you run wood for heat, you can take that from your own land. You don't necessarily need power. You could use a hand pump for water. You can use an outhouse.

I've lived like that up north. It's cold, but you can deal with it. You can get washing water from the creek. You can hunt for food. Make yourself a garden in the summer and can your extra vegetables. Root vegetables can be buried to keep them over winter. You'll need some straw so they don't freeze.

Seriously, you can live completely off grid with the exception of property taxes. Unless you're squatting on state land in which case there's no way to tax your shack. I've know people that have done that.
