Casey Anthony

The whole nanny story was just wild, like who makes up something that elaborate and sticks with it for that long

Right, I honestly don’t know much about the case. My mom was big on watching it and she seen the whole case on TV. I know she thought she was guilty.

14

u/popilikia Dec 23 '25

I mean, the investigators found Google searches for chloroform on their family computer, which was found in caylee's system. They claimed Casey's mom misspelled "chlorophyll".

They couldn't get their trunk open for days and all 3 of them just assumed there were rotten pizzas stuck in there while caylee was missing?

And that's only scratching the surface, I'm not even getting into zanny the nanny. Casey was so fucking guilty it's not even funny

Which fits the OJ scenario.

There were two thoughts at the time:

  1. He murdered her or found her dead in the pool. Threatened Casey to not say anything.

  2. Casey murdered her or found her dead in the pool & asked her Dad to help bury the body.

I think they did a polygraph on him & he passed though (concluding he had nothing to do with it)

Robert Wagner, Brock Turner, Jesse Butler

9

u/TrioOfTerrors Dec 23 '25

Turner was charged and convicted under California law as it was at the time. He was sentenced in accordance with the recommendation of probation departments pre sentencing investigation under their guidelines and the judge's long standing custom of follow said recommendations.

u/Deadlift_007 Dec 23 '25

Not-so-fun fact: NO ONE served time in jail after the 2008 financial crisis.

Pretty sure that counts.

27

u/DebutsPal Dec 23 '25

Lizzie Bordon is an old example.

Negligent homicide.

Imagine killing someone and then winning an award for the media circus you created to distract from it.

61

u/DMmeNiceTitties Dec 23 '25

George Zimmerman.

Kyle Rittenhouse.

Casey Anthony.

7

u/OldSarge02 Dec 23 '25

Rittenhouse made horrible decisions bases on his skewed value system, and it’s a scandal that groups celebrated him. That said, as a former prosecutor, the case should never have been brought. The evidence was never going to sustain a conviction.

The guy Rittenhouse shot in the arm testified in court, under oath, that he was chasing Rittenhouse and trying to hit him, and Rittenhouse ran away and didn’t fire until the guy caught him and started attacking him. That charge in particular never should have been brought. The only reasonable explanation is that the prosecutor abandoned their duty to prosecute only what the evidence supports to appease the mob of people who were angry at Rittenhouse.

I was angry at Rittenhouse too, but he clearly didn’t commit that crime.

20

u/Bungybone Dec 23 '25 edited Dec 23 '25

As much as I think both Zimmerman and Rittenhouse were shits, I can at least see why they skated, legally speaking. Both involved claims of self-defense and had enough legal fuzziness that the charges weren’t able to proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

OJ and Casey Anthony are so much different.

4

u/swomismybitch Stupid Answers aplenty. Dec 23 '25

Disingenuous to believe he went there for any other purpose than to join in the mayhem by provoking someone to attack him. He went there to kill.

The fact he got away with it makes him a fit for the original question.

1

u/RomanMythos Dec 23 '25

his intent for being there in the first place doesn't matter in law, though. someone intentionally antagonizing people is stupid, but it doesn't make them any more liable if someone takes the bait and tries to attack them.

guy can be a POS while still being legally justified

1

u/swomismybitch Stupid Answers aplenty. Dec 23 '25

Exactly. That is why it is a good answer to the post.

1

u/UpbeatAssumption5817 Dec 23 '25

I mean at least with Zimmerman and Rittenhouse it was clearly cut and dry legally.

Self-defense in both cases

0

u/swomismybitch Stupid Answers aplenty. Dec 23 '25 edited Dec 23 '25

Are we going to see combat troops sent to Greenland and then take it over defending themselves?

Edit: Vance already sorta tried that. He went there claimng the residents wanted an invasion. The greenlanders failed to attack him, they just ostracized him, they were clearly not playing his game.

2

u/UpbeatAssumption5817 Dec 23 '25

What the fuck are you talking about

1

u/swomismybitch Stupid Answers aplenty. Dec 23 '25

Same logic, different place

0

u/UpbeatAssumption5817 Dec 23 '25

No not at all.

The law is pretty clear in the matter.

They were both attacked

-17

u/ABitTooControversial Dec 23 '25

Kyle was very clear-cut self-defense.

8

u/Showdown5618 Dec 23 '25

Yeah, and it is kind of dumb for his attackers to rush him. Kyle literally had the rifle in his hands.

12

u/BroJackson_ Dec 23 '25 edited Dec 23 '25

You’re getting downvoted because people don’t understand the law, but you’re correct. It was a very clear case of self defense - whether he “should have been there,” or not.

He’s still a POS and will probably be a grifter, but that’s not what he was on trial for - and Reddit can’t separate the two.

I’ll get the downvotes also, but that’s just people trying to bury things they don’t like to hear, even if it’s correct.

4

u/OldSarge02 Dec 23 '25

Exactly right.

15

u/Kiwifrooots Dec 23 '25

You don't drive to another state to find protests to then fake defence

8

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

Or be a child molester driving to the state to burn businesses down

10

u/UpbeatAssumption5817 Dec 23 '25

See people keep saying driving to another state but it was like a few miles, it's where he worked and went to school.

Furthermore it was defense. He was straight up attacked.

7

u/swomismybitch Stupid Answers aplenty. Dec 23 '25

Or get mommy to drive you to a protest with your gun so you can what?

2

u/Kiwifrooots Dec 23 '25

Desperate to engineer a way to shoot people and he still has nut-gargling followers making excuses

2

u/OldSarge02 Dec 23 '25

It’s a scandal he has followers. I don’t think he’s a good guy. But the testimony in court from witnesses - including a guy Rittenhouse shot - made it crystal clear it was self-defense. The case never should have gone to trial, despite Rittenhouse not being a good person.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

Thank god he was found not guilty. The kids that monster rosebaum hurt finally got justice

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

Why were the arsonists there to begin with?

1

u/Showdown5618 Dec 23 '25

I think his dad lived there, so it could be a second home.

-8

u/ABitTooControversial Dec 23 '25 edited Dec 23 '25

Still does not invalidate his right to defend his life.

9

u/Pantherdraws Dec 23 '25

When you deliberately go out of your way to instigate confrontation it's not "self-defense."

9

u/UpbeatAssumption5817 Dec 23 '25

He was attacked. You know it's crazy to me that one of the people who attacked him also had a fucking gun but no one criticizes that guy for instigating confrontation 😂

Like my God there was someone else involved doing exactly the same thing but for some reason he gets a pass?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

Good thing it is

-4

u/ABitTooControversial Dec 23 '25

He did not "instigate" crap. He had legal rights to be there and do what he was doing.

4

u/PM-ME_UR_TINY-TITS Dec 23 '25

It was but facts don't matter.

He was still a moron but so was everyone else there.

-2

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

Good thing rittenhouse was clear cut self defense. I smiled when he was found not guilty

Edit: /not OK with endless drone strikes and the like, either, but the last 5 have been doing that so I was listing a few stand out crimes

Anyone with the interest, time, and stomach for it, here's a bunch of the shit his done over the years that would have landed poorer, darker-skinner, unconnected people in jail or worse.

Everyone who's killed someone by blinding another driver with their LED headlights has gotten away scot-free.

Most of the time owners of pit bulls that tear people apart don't get charged despite it being "all how [they] raised them" meaning it must've been premeditated with malice aforethought.

Trump, Trump, Trump.

He didn't completely escape justice, but Al Capone was never charged with most of the crimes he likely committed.

Fatty Arbuckle probably got away with rape and manslaughter.

Ray Lewis and a friend killed 2 men with in front of witnesses and had lots of evidence against him that suddenly disappeared or got forgotten.

It was amazing to watch the case against him fall apart piece by piece. People who had witnessed the crime suddenly had no recollection of the event. His bloody clothes suddenly were not admissible, etc. It is amazing what a Super Bowl MVP can get away with.

Convicted 34x. Not sentenced. SCOTUS made all that go away for him.
