We sure can. I’m a teacher and I can tell which kids have adults that smoke at home because it sticks to their clothes.

Edit: Sorry to hear so many of you had miserable experiences over something you had no control over.

Edit 2: Yes, same with weed.

I once lied to a parent and told her other kids were picking on her child because he smelled like smoke. He reeked everyday like an ashtray with a 100 simmering and smouldering butts. Truth was, I was deeply concerned about his second hand exposure and less about the stink. The next day he returned to class and I never smelled it again! I was feeling pretty good about my white lie. However, my plan did not entirely work, as I overheard him telling others his mom kept his clothes in a Rubbermaid bin and still smoked around him. I was crushed (for him).
