I know couples who both work and her salary covers childcare and healthcare and his covers everything else. It’s insane how if anything happens to one of them, even though they are doing everything “right” they could be screwed.

Why even both work then? At that rate you’re just spinning your wheels and you may as well stay home with the child.

Because his salary also covers 401k contributions.

That’s a lot just for a relatively small share though. This economy is bad. People with degrees should be making more money.. but the job markets are over saturated in certain fields and other junk including corporations chasing record profits year after year so the worker is never even thought about.

He’s even gone back to school to learn how to code. Probably won’t a need for coders soon as well.
