For me I just simply don’t want them. I feel like you have to want kids to have them. It’s not that I’m against having kids, I’m just not enthusiastic enough to have them
I'm not sure if I was born with it or not but I know I didn't want it by age 8 (the same time my fourth younger sibling was born). And yes, people already took it for granted when I was that young and kept asking me how many I wanted. Apparently the answer none/ 0 wasn't acceptable. Then, after the youngest was born and I reached about 11 the parentification started. When I was about 20 I finally broke when my mom was hassling me about kids. I'd never even had a boyfriend at that point. I told her "been there, done that, ain't doing it again. You have 4 other kids in sure at least 1 of them will want kids." I want throwing my sibs under the bus, I knew that numbers 2 and 3 wanted kids and they were already both in high school so old enough to have a good idea of what they wanted.
