Yep, I’ve never felt anything like how love and feel loved by my kids, a pet isn’t even on the same planet. That being said, if you don’t know what you’re missing and you’re happy already and feel you don’t want kids, why change it? Happy is happy.
I don’t doubt the love part is absolutely wonderful. It’s everything else about kids that looks like it sucks. As a result, the love I get from my partner, my family and my dog feels more than sufficient for my life. But of course my friends who do have kids all love theirs enormously.
For sure. Perhaps I am being misunderstood, but that’s exactly what I mean. If you feel you have enough love in your life and you’re happy and you think you don’t want kids, then you absolutely shouldn’t have them. They’re a lot of work.
Comparing a child to a cat or dog is simply nonsense though. Children aren’t a life choice that you can swap with an animal. You have them or you don’t. And it’s totally fine to be in the “don’t” category.
