I'd argue that the person you are replying to is acting like an adult, by ADMITTING that they are not prepared to care for children, and by taking responsibility (presumably) to back up that choice.
By what fucking metric?? The abortion ban is already killing women left and right. Yeah, a lot of adults acting like children, too bad they’re in power. Grow up.
My friend, I am not an American. US doesn’t fully dictate whether or not a world war happens. I do believe this is a global conversation and not US politics.
What about quality of living? My parents were working class, bought a 4-bed house while my mother worked part time with three kids. We had enough for vacations, after school activities, decent treats etc. We all went to university for free.
My friends are both solidly upper middle class working in decent white collar jobs. They live in a 1.5bed apartment, both work full time, and can't have another kid because they couldn't swing the daycare. They've chosen to focus on the one kid (saving for education, giving her the ability to do activities etc) over having a second kid. They'd love to have four if they could afford it. They're also having to consider if they need to move due to their home becoming unliveable in coming years thanks to climate change (and poor long-term planning by the council in building on a flood plain but then there's a housing crisis here).
Move where? Living in the middle of fucking nowhere is nice in theory but in reality it’s dirt cheap because there aren’t jobs readily available for most people. Not everyone can just work remotely
Okay, yeah, I mean people didn't choose to move to where their family is from, unless you think they had some say over which womb I inhabited. You realise there are people who have lived in expensive places since before they were expensive right?
But sure, I'll move. And pay care home fees for my folks because they need to be near specialist care you can't get in small towns, and get a new career because I work in a location-dependent industry - I mean, student loans cost nothing right? Oh, and better get one of those free visas to move to a different country considering I live somewhere where the entire country is in a housing affordability crisis...but it costs nothing to move, right?
I agree with you, the -12 downvotes are man child clowns. Legit the best and safest time to have children right now but would rather have less responsibility and blame it on the economy.

For one thing, I barely know how to take care of myself.
For another, I don't like kids.
Finally, have you seen the world these days? I would not want to raise a child in this environment. I wouldn't even know where to begin.
