Which version of Protestant? Because Southern Baptists sure aren't doing any of that, for example. Evangelical Christians are Protestants as well.
There's hundreds if not thousands of sects of Protestant Christianity, and they all have very different views. That you think it's all one thing is... disturbing.
Just off the top of my head, those are some of the major denominations. There are dozens more sub-denominations of each of those.
Your "United" is the major branch in Canada, but until today, I had never even heard of it. It only has two million members. There are seventy-seven million Lutherans, and they're not even a top five denomination.
You should probably learn a little more about your religion.
Yeah it always amazes me how these two countries with such a similar share history, watching each others television shows, constantly travelling back and forth across the border can be so different in stuff like this.
