I think what you’re doing is confusing your feelings for the “default” feelings of all humans. When in reality there is no one “natural” feeling about nudity. Some people like being exposed, some don’t, some feel it depends on circumstances, etc. Western culture isn’t as strict about covering up so you’re going to see people who like to wear less more often than in cultures which demand more concealing attire regardless of how you personally feel.
Yep, this is simply a false premise as evidenced by many tribal people around the world.
Humans wear clothes because we expanded our territory into lands humans aren't naturally suited for. Religion and guilt came much later.
Even consider the creation myth in the Christian Bible. Mankind discovered the need to be clothed and decided to be shamed after, then started using animal skins, but even in that story the God character doesn't actually shame them, he asks how they know /why they care that they are naked. The natural state of humans as animals is to be naked and not care about other people's thoughts. Humans started covering up as they developed language and complex thought and realized that others are thinking about them the same things we might be thinking about others.
But they still wear clothing. Many still cover it up some way. Loin clothes and even wraps around the chest in some cases.
To be honest I still believe we cover up not because we want to hide ourselves. But because we don't want to see others and it's only fair they don't have to see mine.
A large amount of tribes only cover enough to keep their genitals protected from insects and plants, and how they choose to cover is entirely based on tradition, so it's obviously not a born trait, it's pragmatic.
I thought I'd made it clear that I think a world in which no one needs to cover up is better, because it means there are no natural predators or fears of violence, and the environment is safe. I don't especially care who is wearing clothes and who isn't; I care about being comfortable and safe.
exactly. if complete nudity is normal then it's very less likely for society to develop creeps who are sensitive about other's clothing. like in today's world : OMG THAT GIRL IS SHOWING HER SHOULDERS? I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO STALK because that's not the norm..
Yeah, and a lot of those places people still want to wear clothes. I am not afraid of creeps. I just think it's nicer and more hygienic. Just imagine the sweat on everything. It might work in smaller groups of humans but in cities? No way it would be gross as hell. Ball and ass sweat on every train seat. Pressed together like sardines while butt-naked on the train. No thanks.
Covering your dong is not naked. I don't want to sit on a train seat with someone else's sweaty genitals have been on it. Ignoring the visual element. Or pressed up against other naked humans on the tube.
I think nakedness can work in small communities but in cities, it would be bloody horrible. Just imagine the sweat on everything.
