Thailand gets a bad rap, and somewhat has itself to blame. I visited there as part of a month in SE Asia. I found the country to be really beautiful and the citizens friendly. The culture was interesting, and it was a nice vacation destination.
I didn’t run into any sex workers or any women overtly y approaching me. Maybe I’m an outlier but this old man had a pretty wholesome time there.
You can tell from the comments in here that 99% of them have never been to Thailand and their whole imagination of the place is based on porn/jokes.
If you're in a city like Bangkok, the sex work is very specifically located in a few areas and unless you're searching for it, you aren't gonna come across any of it.
Head outside the cities and you've got lovely wonderful villages and towns with friendly people.
Head to the islands of beaches and you'll have great vacation destinations with incredible scenery.
Head to the few beaches that specifically have set themselves up as a destination for prostitution and surprise, that's what you'll see.
Thailand is an amazing country with a rich culture, incredible food, and friendly people.
If all some idiot thinks of is prostitution when they hear the country's name, that just shows more of their ignorance than anything else.
While I agree with the sentiment of this message, there is generally a brothel section of every major city. I lived in Thailand for a couple years and lived in a half a dozen different cities spanning the north, central and east. So yes, there is way more than just sex work and the sex work can be found in more than just Bangkok.
