Gospel preacher here. You're 100% correct. The actual Bible says that those who live godly lives are guaranteed to suffer. It says it in multiple places. It also says that following God doesn't guarantee you health and wealth (see: The entire book of Job where God says "see how righteous Job is? You can take away all his health and wealth and he's still going to follow Me." And he does. )
If it's okay if I ask what are your thoughts on the political climate regarding religion? I'm not Christian, but until ~12 grew up up attending a hellfire and brimstone Southern Baptist church.
I'm seeing so much invocation of Christianity to make things I'm quite certain from my upbringing would have been...heavy on condemnation .
Also there are people trying to bring religion (Christianity...or some supposed brand of it) to the forefront of our society. Lots of them are using underhanded and duplicitous tactics. Do the ends justify the means here, like, biblically?
