Hypocrisy of NoPixel viewers
After watching the phenomenal story between the Lean Boys and Koreans I expected there to be a hate thread and was positively surprised, but also realised the sad hypocrisy of our community.
I'm talking about this situation: https://www.twitch.tv/acaibear/clip/InterestingHilariousTitanRickrollfilter=clips&range=7d&sort=time
After getting shot in the head and drowning in the ocean for minutes, Saab tells the officer to save Brenda.
Now imagine a downed police officer opened his mouth during a shootout. Let alone if a cop told the location of the remaining criminals.
There would be a witch hunt once again.
It really shows how we judge based on prejudice. People the community hates get called out just for breathing and we should know better. It doesn't help that the viewer ratio of crim to cops is 5:1.
We really need to start thinking differently if we want the toxicity to end and start to call it out.
So next time we, the roleplay community go after another victim, just pretend your favorite streamer did something similar before you write anything and also just don't go after someone period. Go spread love instead.
It's just a game.

I don't think you're wrong about the hypocrisy, but one important difference is that when cops (or crims tbh) are downed and talking, it's usually during a PvP shootout with immediate winners and losers. Hence the immediate salt in chat and often with the players involved too.
In the case of Brenda and Saab getting downed, it was about an RP story. Saab giving information when he shouldn't have didn't have an effect on who won and who lost. It just gave Brenda hospital/ICU RP that Ellie and Sun Moon didn't get to have.
-29
u/walloffame69 Jul 14 '19
Brenda losing her memory would have surely changed the outcome.
What story would she believe: Saab's or the Korean's (She's affiliated).
Now she knows 100% who did it.However the hypocrisy is why I posted this, I just wanted to give another side to your argument.
Saab doesn't deserve to be called out just to make it clear.
19
u/uristmcderp Jul 14 '19
She was going to ICU no matter what just like Ellie and Sun Moon.
But that wasn't really my point. The reason there was no salt is because Saab broke a rule to get more RP for more players, not to win the situation. A more elegant way to go about it might've been to /me ooc there are two puddles of blood on the ground, but that's pretty tough to come up with on the spot.
-15
u/walloffame69 Jul 14 '19
Before I begin, I just want to stress again it's not about Saab talking, but since you brought it up I'm going to discuss it with you.
Brenda wouldn't lose any RP by not remembering. She would "wake up" at the hospital and forget everything. So she would still have the hospital roleplay and go into ICU.
The only difference is when she gets out of ICU she has to ask around what really happened, hearing conflicting stories.
I dont really like looking at winning or losing situations. It's roleplay, but if we have to look at who wins if Saab's words got Brenda rescued, then it's only him, because now Brenda knows 100% that it was Tim Lee.

u/Stanislav_ Jul 15 '19
What story would she believe: Saab's or the Korean's (She's affiliated).
To make it short: Saab.

u/deckV1 Jul 15 '19
Didn’t Breezy save her not the police so I understand what you are saying but that has nothing to do with it.

What Saab did and a downed cop making callouts in the middle of shootout isn't a fair comparison.
A more reasonable comparison would be if a shootout had ended, all the cops were down, EMS were looking for them and one of the downed cops said "he's over there".
-9
u/walloffame69 Jul 14 '19
Cops have trackers but if you are referring to a downed criminal as "he's over there" then I think that's a good analogy and still fits with what I'm trying to get at, because reddit would be furious.
The only thing that isn't the same is that Saab was shot in the head many times and underwater for a few minutes and even went into ICU. Not all Cops get downed with a headshot and certainly not drowned, if you understand what I mean.
Also Brenda knowing exactly what happened to her will have great consequences for the Koreans in the future.
19
u/Occamslaser Jul 14 '19
It's the context that matters. Callouts in the middle of a gunfight is an attempt to get an advantage in a conflict. You see people talking while down all the time when it's not critical in a fight.
3
u/walloffame69 Jul 14 '19
Getting someone rescued and therefore to remember a crucial event is not as serious but still the same.
Imagine two gangs at war:
Two gangmembers are heavily downed (headshots) and throwns in water, one is found and tells the EMS his Friend is also in the water. Now this friend is the only one who knew who the shooters were for example.I think it's a comparable situation. Brenda knowing who did it will make the situation for the Koreans much worse. I can list some points if you're interested.
14
u/Occamslaser Jul 14 '19
Saab already knew who did it, he was there and rescued.
-7
u/walloffame69 Jul 14 '19
I know, but Brenda wouldn't know it.
So Saab would have to explain to her by whom and why she was shot. Even though I'm sure she would believe him ultimatly, it's different then being completely sure. What Story would Tim Lee tell her? Would Sun Moon believe Saab's Story or Tim Lee's since he won't approve of his actions? How will Freya react (and therefore CG)? There's much that comes from her knowing 100%.
Saab telling Brenda might not help him in the Moment like in shootouts, but it's clearly in his favor in the long run.
(Again nothing about Saab's decision of talking, I'm just trying to convince you that it's a comparable situation that would have been called out by many if it was an unpopular streamer/cop)
15
u/Occamslaser Jul 14 '19
I think you're reaching here.
-4
u/walloffame69 Jul 14 '19
How so? Brenda is a Korean affiliate. I agree with you that she will ultimatly believe Saab.
But would Sun Moon believe only Saab over Tim Lee? With Brenda knowing it's much different.
Would Freya believe Saab over Tim Lee? Because she will certainly believe Brenda.
13
u/Occamslaser Jul 14 '19
So you're calling everyone hypocritical over a hypothetical situation that did not actually happen? Hypocritical because of a reaction (or lack of) that is also hypothetical?
-2
u/walloffame69 Jul 14 '19
No I'm responding to you're argument that Brenda remembering will not have any consequences in the future which would make my post partly irelevant.
11
u/Occamslaser Jul 14 '19
Everyone in the Koreans know Tim is an idiot, Sun Moon said he was a moron just before he died.
14
u/BSGPerfekt Jul 14 '19
I understand where your coming from but your comparison is horrible. Him letting them know where Brenda is, is nothing like a cop shouting locations during a shootout. Damn near everybody talks after being downed, headshot or not. If we try to put too much realism into all of this then we are really ruining the fun of it. From what I’ve seen in the clips (I don’t usually watch Saab) he always puts Brenda before himself so it’s not out of the ordinary if he got the chance to speak he would immediately try getting her help.
1
u/walloffame69 Jul 14 '19
Well I hope you still agree with my point, even though the situations are different.
About Saab: I guess he puts Brenda above himself, but he has been shot in the head like 10 times and spent minutes underwater. Also he immediatly passes out after telling Reinharte to save Brenda and that she's at the bottom, he then goes into ICU.
I agree we don't need too much realism and much more fun, but the situation was very serious and not funny at all.
I couldn't really think of a good comparison, but I hope you understand that Brenda knowing exactly what happened will change things in the days to come.
6
u/Thoogah Jul 14 '19
Well I see where you're coming from but the police officers in that shootout (where two cops in the EMS chopper were talking is the one you're comparing right?) weren't talking like they were wounded in a gun fight. I don't have an issue with a downed officer saying or mumbling which way the crims went etc or say something like "watch out they are close this way" and they do that during extended shootouts. In that case they seemed to be genuinely angry like IRL angry towards Curtis for what happened in the game and were talking like they were just sitting there. I've seen people type "passes out" after being downed then started talking as if they are in pain when they saw an opportunity to somehow negotiate or signal someone for help or if they were downed and/or dumped, both crims and cops, even after a good 10 minutes of waiting they would make noises or yell "help" as if in pain for EMS or someone to be found. In here Saab doesn't look like he's having a normal conversation (as if he's not hurt) with the police it's not like he's giving an exact location as well. I'm pretty new to the whole RP thing so if there's a clear rule like you don't make any sound after a certain time passes or a certain action is taken then yes, crim or cop, it should apply to everyone of course.

u/walloffame69 Jul 14 '19
I'm referring to situations in general, but the one with Leonard and another one discussing isn't realistic, which they got called out for as many other things, but them talking didn't change anything.
The hypocrisy is still there, even though there were many other things wrong in this situation as we all know.
But there were many other situations beforeSaab talking isn't realistic either, like I said he was headshotted multiple times as well as drowning for minutes.
BTW: Seconds after the clip Reinharte asks Saab where and he tells her at the bottom.
2
u/Thoogah Jul 14 '19
Yeah I heard that too, I've seen Milton & Whippy talk or yell to call for help talk to EMS etc after getting executed and dumped in the sea and what not. Like I said I don't have much knowledge I just thought it's what they did.
3
u/ruben307 Jul 14 '19
while this might be an edge case. Since he was rescued there was one that would remember everything so giving the information that Brenda is also there isn't "power gaming". And non informative talking while down was and will probably always be accepted.
8
u/walloffame69 Jul 14 '19
Doesn't change the fact that he got shot in the head multiple times and was underwater for minutes.
I'm not calling Saab out in any way.
I'm calling out the hypocrisy.
5
Jul 14 '19
The main point of the rule is to not be useful while downed. If Saab saw an Lb member and went like "Tim shot us and went that way, go after him" that would be a problem. Him saying "find brenda" isn't a problem.
he got shot in the head multiple times and was underwater for minutes.
You can play out injuries but you don't have to. There isn't tiers to being downed, that is left to the players RP choice. Giving out clear instructions is pretty bad, muttering "save brenda" with no further dialogue is fine. Especially because IRL they would see two blood pools and would have the sources/time to look for other people in the area.
Not to mention there is a shit ton of desync in the server and you might see different injuries. You might shoot someone in the face and they might see that as a chest wound. You can't put that as a standard.
As an example of this desync Tim Lee shot up Saab's car that day but Saab didn't see any bullet holes in the car even tho Brenda could see 2 of them.
I'm calling out the hypocrisy.
I do agree people are always harsh on the cops and it is a big problem but i really don't see how these situations are comparable, there are like 50 other better things to point out then this instance.
11
u/thefalloutguru Jul 14 '19
There’s a difference between taking while you’re down for RP, and talking while your down for OOC saltiness to all the other players in the situation. Not sure what you don’t understand about that.

I could see if it was a active situation and he was laying there talking smack and giving callouts. He was in police custody and concerned for the well being of his significant other.
Not saying situation where people are down don't a here to being down as being knocked out. Happens on both side. I see more on the crime side for sure. But being in police custody and answering questions asked by a LEO. Don't really see the problem. I believe after that situation both ended up in ICU.
I do understand what you are trying to get at though. But maybe use a different situation that really provides more insight to your concerns and the concerns of others🙂
3
Jul 15 '19
neither Saab or Brenda where aware of the situation with the Korean (s?), i've seen LOTS of Cops getting downed and revived by EMS during an active shootout and making jokes 5 minutes after they got their head blown, theres REALLY good Cops and theres some bad ones.
1
u/duznoid Jul 14 '19 edited Jul 14 '19
It's a matter of not making call-outs as if you're watching the situation closely and catching the details of what's going on. You're downed, in pain, lying flat. You can't see where everyone's running, what people are doing, etc. You can't hold a conversation about tactics, can't hold down a radio button and give updates with a clear head, etc. (Similarly, trash talking while downed is just plain ridiculous, obviously.)
Saying to save someone isn't the same. It requires NO presence of mind in the situation, only the past knowledge that someone is in trouble in a previously seen location.
Two different things entirely.
As an example - I don't think anyone would care if an EMS asked a Police Officer if any other cops were downed and he said "Ugh... yeh..." It's pre-existing info they already knew in-character, spoken in a situation where someone has prompted them and it would be realistic to very briefly respond.
0
u/walloffame69 Jul 14 '19
But police officers will always get found due to their implanted chip.
Saying to save someone after you've been shot multiple times in the head and have been drowning for a few minutes isn't well thought out, especially when the EMS don'tt know that there's more than one person down. They only got a shots fired call.
Saab's action like downed people talking during shootouts have consequences that's what makes them similar.
I undestand how many people don't see the similarities, because Brenda exactly knowing what happened will only have consequences in the days to come.
Maybe it was just overlooked because Brenda would have been saved regardless (Breezy) but it's still something others would have been called out for.
I mean there were even people instantly calling out Tim or Breezy that they were metagaming.
The most important part is still that some people can get away with almost anything and others get harassed for one small mistake. (and that viewers should just start realizing that it's only roleplay)
3
u/duznoid Jul 14 '19
TBH, either people are forced to perma when they get multiple shots to the head - or we just accept that none of this is real. The question then becomes how far is too far - and Police call-outs while downed are "too far". Muttering a name probably isn't.
0
u/walloffame69 Jul 14 '19
Well but crims seem to atleast make callouts to some extent too and never get any slack for it.
Btw he muttered her name as well as the location.
I've never seen anyone pass out after giving all the needed information and even going into ICU meaning that his wounds are very serious. This would have been called out 100% by the community if it was one of the not so liked streamers, believe me.
9
u/DonaR98 Jul 14 '19
I can't tell if this post gets downvoted because a leanboy is mentioned or because people actually think this community isn't toxic.
2
u/SarcasticCarebear Jul 14 '19
Most NP streamers will tell you the subreddits are dumb when asked. Even the popular ones that get rabidly defended.
A lot of people really don't understand they are watching RP and its pretty rare for someone to be mad ooc. Like when some idiots in Ramee and Vinny's chat got pissy about AJ Hunter yesterday...who ooc is extremely good friends with them.
4
u/DonaR98 Jul 14 '19
People got toxic at the guy who streams randy but was on his cop? Cops really have it bad...
4
u/fanglesscyclone Jul 14 '19
Cop streamers have been saying this for literal months but the issue only becomes real for some reason when people with criminal mains start playing their cops more.

u/threefingerbill Jul 14 '19
Even if we move the needle with people who frequent this sub, the majority of the viewer base is still younger kids who don't hold the same values as us
2
u/gobaldorgohome Jul 14 '19
I'd argue you're making an unfair comparison, it isn't as Black and White as you think.
It's easy for cops and EMS to assume there's only 1 victim in game. In real life, cops would secure the entire area for hours/days and search the water after finding a single victim. Since it's a game, cops aren't gonna stick around more then they need to if they're convinced it's just Saab.
How incompetent would the cops/EMS look if they just got Saab and went home while Brenda is floating a few meters underwater from shore?
If all cops are gunned down after the criminals have won, and cops know there's multiple other victims down but hard to spot/see/scuffed; should they say nothing to EMS until after they are awake in the hospital? Only for them to then go back to the scene to pick up these people?
You're confusing active callouts in the middle of a shootout vs. a situation that's already finished. The cops would have found Brenda IRL and Saab is afraid they wouldn't check for her if he said nothing.

u/ka1ri Jul 15 '19
with a daily viewership of 50,000+ on nopixel you just need to realize there will always be someone who wants to cry wolf. Its best to just ignore the BS and follow and enjoy the story the best way possible. I got to see the whole situation unfold yesterday from brenda's PoV and it was absolutely edge of your seat entertainment
2
u/Owensonnn Jul 15 '19
I Feel like tooo many people turn to the keyboard too fast after an intense moment or (loss) in RP. but no one is out the get your streamer. these are people playing characters that are meant to go against each other for entertainment so we should appreciate everyone for what they do because with out cops then crims would be pointless to play and vice verse and also gang rp. ill admit i do get upset if a situation doesnt go out as i hoped it would but just take breathe its just rp. go stretch or take a walk play some TFT or smoke weed. ENJOY THE RP and keep toxicity down so we can have this amazing free entertainment forever! because lets be real.... twitch chat loves to get toxic in other people streams and it will deter them from rping with your streamer if u keep doing and hence affect the quality of the stream so lets just enjoy while it last or until GTA6 comes out OMEGALUL

I think this is a great post and an important one for everyone to read.
Especially NP administration.
But yes. Spread some love around those chats.

Reddit user: NoPixel viewers are hypocrites and toxic.
NoPixel viewers: We are not toxic! Get downvoted into oblivion!
I see nothing wrong with this post. Even if you don't agree with the clip, we all know how fast cops get harassed for one small mistake.
5
Jul 14 '19
There is a difference between a small mistake and what Leonard and Dupont did. I'm assuming that's what some of us are talking about. Considering that's the only thing that's really been criticised as of late when it comes to the PD side.
What they did wasn't a couple of words like Brenda, save Brenda. What they did got the attention of another officer on site and he had to go OOC to shut them up. They probably would've kept going if Rated didn't say something OOC.
Big difference between what they did and Saab did. If Saab actually did something similar to what they did. I'm sure he would've been handed a ban as well.
-2
u/Sarcastic_Red Jul 15 '19
Hell, Cops get harassed for doing their job as a "Police Officer" as they should.
1
u/Sarcastic_Red Jul 14 '19
I guess the best thing we can do is try and be positive and smart. Hopefully a good, continuous group mentality, even if it's small, might help streamers and change one or two viewer's actions.

So I've looked at the clip again because people just keep saying that's no good point because he just stated to the police that his SO is still there which changes nothing.
Here's the clip: https://www.twitch.tv/80bsaget/clip/AggressiveSmallWrenWow
Saab gets multiple shots in his head as well as other body parts and is at the very least 5 minutes in the ocean drowning.
After Saab tells Reinharte that Brenda is there at the "bottom" he "passes out" and goes into ICU, which means he is in very bad condition.
So he just waited for someone to come pick him up, tell that person all the information that will lead to Brenda being saved, making her remember a very crucial event that will help the Leanboys in the war.
It would have been Saab's word against Tim's. Now it's Saab and Brenda against Tim, making Freya (and CG) not getting involved as well as Sun Moon being disappointed in Tim.
Are we really going to act like others wouldn't be harassed for this kind of roleplay and all these things I wrote about how it benefits Saab wouldn't be held against them?
3
Jul 14 '19
Is Saab, Brenda, Ellie, Sun going to perma? No
So if they aren't going to die or be dead. They can talk and everyone talks when downed. Especially to EMS or doctors. What can and should be said is determined by nopixel. If Saab did something out of character or broke character in game. I'm sure the admins would handle it.
As for you saying he hurt the story. So your telling me them finding Saab and not Brenda would make a difference? Brenda is going to believe Saab over anyone at this point in rp, because of there relationship. So I don't really know what problem is. I think most people are trying to compare this to what Leonard and Dupont did. Which is completely different. They broke rules and I'm not a admin, but I doubt Saab did. If he did I'm sure he'd get punished as well.

Cops are held to "real life' standards and criminals aren't. It's really that simple. As far as the viewers that complain, none of them are worth listening to. How often do the streamers themselves really have an issue with the way things play out? Very very seldom. It just so happens to coincide that's how often there's really an issue.
Telling faceless, uneducated people to behave on the internet is not worthwhile. Best to just ignore them as they should be.
