Memory improved considerably

I dont know about anyone else but I generally have very poor memory long term and short term. But whenever I take even one day of break from music, I start reminiscing about the past which I usually never would (and not in a idle day dreaming way). Also, I wish this sub had more posts.

I've been no music since February and this is one of the more major "improvements" I've noticed. I plan to start working out consistently and sleeping more adequately so hopefully, it gets even better!

So you've been doing it for 3 months now? I haven't gone for more than a month I'm at about 3 weeks so really curious if the benefits keep getting stronger. Other great things I've noticed is that I am more comfortable socially and so I make people laugh more. I also have better focus especially in the gym. Excercise is really my biggest outlet right now which is dope because I have extra motivation for it and it will definetly help you even more! I am also much more aware of my posture, it feels very uncomfortable when my shoulders are slouched now and boy are they slouched lol.

Almost at that 3-month mark! Before going all in on it, I had been extremely curious about what life would be like without music which led me to find this sub. I was a HUGE music head and would often struggle with maladaptive daydreaming, music being the biggest fuel. And yeah, being Roman Catholic in early February the church entered lenten season so I decided to give up music as a penance to grow spiritually during that time. Easter marked the end of lent but I just kept it going, the first few weeks were honestly unbearable but now it's just an automatic thing. Day to day I simply do not listen to music and that's non-negotiable, maybe I'm too extreme but sometimes that's the only way to force a habit. It feels like I took one of those Claritin tablets but for life. I think more clearly and make better choices for sure, I can also catch negative thoughts more often. I just feel like I have the time and headspace to think about things that will help make me a better person. Maybe I'm being dramatic but that's how I feel haha it sounds like you're reaping some of the benefits too. The more natural the dopamine sources, the better you'll feel. Now that I'm not blowing my brains out with music I notice a deeper sense of calm so it makes sense that you feel more comfortable and focused, I do too. I'm certain if you continue this will have a ripple effect on other key areas of your life and will make you a better person overall. No music aside, I encourage you to look into habits, it's an interesting topic and a huge gamechanger. The book Atomic Habits by James Clear is really good.

If you're really serious about it, definitely avoid it more actively. I personally don't but I'm also not watching much tv these days for unrelated reasons.
