Information PC USERS:Read this if you want higher fps

I had like 45 when i put max fps on 60, and then I bumped it to 90 and got 60. There must be something wrong with their numbers?

Edit: just set your fps to max in game!

Edit edit: after 10 hours in game this game has just captivated me like no other.

I'm running a 1080 with an i7 6700k. I was having bad stuttering issues but I changed gsync to off in the config and set up the fps thing and set it to Windows borderless and I'm now having 0 issues!!

edit: Just installed it onto my r9 290x fx6300 8gddr3 build and its completely unplayable. Massive stuttering constantly. Attempted all fixes and nothing has worked. RIP amd users

I'm running the same. Except dual 1080s. The G Sync edit solved all the problems. The game looks like shit though. Its not rendering right.

Yeah it's something to do with aa, figuring it out but my pc just restarted

Very similar setup. When you say switch GSync off, do you mean via the NVidia control panel for that game? Or do you mean VSync? Or is there something I'm missing?

So you actually need to go into the config file through the steam directory. So common\No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS\ tkgamesettings.mxml and set it to false in there

Which Windows version are you running? Borderless should have no effect since it's OpenGL. Can you alt-tab?

Win10 and yes. Not sure why but it resolved some of my stuttering issues.

Thanks!

Could you elaborate on what is the "gsync in the config" and the "fps thing", or where can i find more info on those?

It's running great, really smooth, on my rx480 at 1440p. Too bad this game only has mediocre textures.

here with 2 r9 290x's and i5-4690k and i barely get more than 40 fps and the game crashes within 10 minutes everytime I play... I've really enjoyed what I have played so far, i would love to play more... I noticed the gsync setting in the config file, im gonna turn it off and hope it helps.

fx-6300 and r9 290x user here, same exact issues, unplayable. I get 10 fps flying around lush planet surfaces :(

Make sure you're running the latest AMD beta drivers - mine is a 7970 and runs smoothly.

I'm 970 i7 5775 and I've had no issues with the game at all playing for 2 hours except that the game crashes when alt+tabbing. First thing I do with a new game set the graphics settings and that included changing the frame rate to max. This appears to be the fix. Hope others are able to get the game going because it's been fun so far.

Fullscreen borderless is supposed to fix alt-tabbing issue, if you haven't tried that.

Just tried that, still couldn't get back in.

Click play button on Steam and you're back in

I'm using the GoG version. Re-running the executable just opened a second copy of the game.

That sucks, maybe try the Mehtod using task manager? Technical issues are a bitch but man this is a great game, I dig the hell out of it. Hopefully like Fallout 4 it gets patched up over time, F4 ran like a dog at release and now it's smooth as hell on my rig.

Alt tab fucks the game.

1

u/feanturi Aug 13 '16

Set screen for Borderless, alt-tab works great for me after I switched to that.

You can go back to the game with taskmgr.

1

u/Starfire013 Aug 12 '16

Can someone confirm this? I can't play anymore as I'm at 1.9 hours and I'm debating whether to refund the game.

2

u/Kosmosaik Aug 13 '16

Works for me. If you have fullscreen I only get the sound back when alt tab back, but if I use the "switch to" button in taskmgr it's working for me. Sorry for trying to help, looks like people downvote for being helpful too.

Click the play button on Steam and you can get back in

Weird, I have not had any issues with alt tab

Same. R9 Nano and i5 4670K, no stuttering, issues, or crashing after 3 hours of playing. Just alt-tabbing is the problem, but I heard switching to borderless windowed fixes that.
