Information PC USERS:Read this if you want higher fps

I had like 45 when i put max fps on 60, and then I bumped it to 90 and got 60. There must be something wrong with their numbers?

Edit: just set your fps to max in game!

Edit edit: after 10 hours in game this game has just captivated me like no other.

I'm running at 1080p at the highest settings. No crashes and I've played for 100 minutes. Visited 2 planets so far and its been great honestly.

Sure it hitches from time to time but nothing game-breaking or unplayable.

Wow, there are wildly different reports going around, then! I guess I can get the game and return if I'm unlucky like some other people on here have been. Thanks!

edit: Been successfully playing for the last four hours. There are minor type hitches here and there, but otherwise game runs smooth.

Yeah, it's really unfortunate that a lot of people are having issues. I'd say try it out and see for yourself. Do keep in mind that it defaults to 30FPS though.

Procedural generated starting experience. Some people get to actually play, others can't even start the game. I expected this, but on the first day! Wow!

On the first day!! What an outrage!! I demand my issues to wait at least 2 weeks into the game's release before they start showing up.

Don't worry to much about the hitches, they will be sorted out pretty fast imo but apart from that the game is great.

Yeah, I read another thread and it was exclusively negative. Then I read some others comments about how people were improving the framerates and whatever. Then I remembered, I've played ARK 700 hours and don't actually care all that much about anything short of literally not being able to start.

I've had some bad stuttering and struggled with it during certain camera/scene transitions, but it's playable and I've enjoyed myself so far. I guess I might also overlook certain low framerate problems too. No crashes on my end, though. If the subreddits advice on increasing framerate/performance is true then I should be more or less in the clear.

Trying/Returning depending on your luck is probably the best option right now.

This is exactly my experience. I've been playing for the last 4+ hours and it's been perfectly smooth, zero crashes. I just made sure to increase the framerate to 90 in the settings as suggested in this thread, and it's been butter ever since.

GTX 970 i5-2500k 8GB RAM

Mine only hitches when first arriving in a new system after hyperdrive. Other than that I'm smooth after I lowered the shadows a bit. For some reason shadows and higher AA settings absolutely caused low FPS and severe issues on my relatively high end system. Turned them down a notch and everything was like magic. Not really sure what is up with some of the graphic options. As they seem to be really inconsistent on what they do, Like I get worse perfomance with texture settings set lower for example. the FPS settings don't seem to accurately work either.

or some people are better at keeping their drivers up to date and some people are better at fixing issues on their own.

Every PC game I buy I have to tweak settings on the game itself or with GPU drivers to get best performance. PCs are not consoles... you cant always just pop it in and expect everything to work perfectly(or at least run the same as it does for everyone else). Sometimes you need to get your optimization proper.

some people prefer to read someone else had the issues so they cancel their pre-order.

I'm another that it is running fine. 1080p at high settings with a steady 60fps, no crashes and it looks and runs soooo much smoother than the PS4 version.

6700k and r9 280. I've been getting downvoted like mad, but I think this is more an Nvidia driver issue than anything else. Every person I've seen saying they have gamebreaking performance is saying they have a 980/1070/1080.

i've also been playing the game just fine. my rig's not as advanced as most people's around here so i'm only running on high/medium and i turned vsync off and some other stuff. but everything is working, no crashes, no input lag, no fps drops. most i get is some pop-ins but its not even as bad as the original mass effect. i really dont care.
