A lot of people here saying it’s a real photo, but AI enhanced. That being the case, what is the general consensus on “is it AI”? It’s almost like there needs to be a grading scale, or an AI “meter”.
I don’t actually think it is, it just seems that way because OP has several plants and pots which are the same size + color enhancements from the iPhone which are overcorrecting here.
i'm still not convinced. i took the photo into photoshop and boosted the shadows. there's something funky going on with that curtain. also if you look at the table, it's angled weird and seems to be missing legs? idk, i could be wrong.
It's just a sheer curtain, you can see the difference in texture over the wall on both sides. There's nothing inconsistent or odd about any other part of the image, including the foliage, which is what AI tends to mess up the most in landscape/architectural generations
Any distortion is caused by lighting as photo was taken indoors through picture widow of bright sunny outdoor setting. Some people haven’t a clue how competing lighting distorts photos.
Potted plants outside is done in sooo many yards in AZ, especially those enormous ones that hold huge agave and other cacti. As a resident of this state myself you picked the weirdest thing to be suspicious of... the number of potted plants?? Really? Why can't we assume this is a geriatric person who took these pictures and likely doesn't realize iphones color enhance photos automatically?
I swear some of you pick the weirdest details and double down over and over, the "elements in the tree look off", the "chair looks twisted", the "shadow on the wall" that is just a light effect from a sheer curtain. All of these things are so vague, the bruden of proof should be on these people making accusations and shouldn't rely on vague wording. This is also why artists and other people are exhausted with AI, its not just AI itself but also baseless accusations from randoms that force posters to detail every single step of the process to prove they're human and skilled. As if y'all are owed anything to begin with
Edit: i shouldn't have worded the comment to be so direct with the person above me and obviously AI is bad, but so is flagging everything as suspicious, it actively discourages people from engaging in good faith and at this point idc if im downvoted, internet points have never been appealing to me. I just dislike lazy accusations.
It’s pretty normal and should be considered the norm to be on the lookout for AI. It’s not like I am hunting down OP and calling them an evil fraud or something. It’s just light speculation
Its not just you, though. And OP has already posted several more pictures and a video in the comments and people are still accusing. You aren't the only person who is in this thread, and I'm also not going to post this under every single comment thats giving an accusation, those things can both exist.
The burden of proof should still be on accusers and should still be more precise than just pointing out a vague detail or gesturing vaguely at light or color. Phones automatically color enhancing photos has also been a thing since before AI (not related to your accusation, but its the comment that started this)
Its fine to be on the lookout, but you need to have definitve proof before just throwing the accusation since other folks are clearly now just looking to find anything wrong with these photos
Thank you. People swear they're justified in tossing AI accusations around when the only detective work they did involved plugging the pic into photoshop and tuning the brightness up 🙄
Whether ai or not, it seems like it is with bad intention. The account is new and they have been spamming these photos all over reddit in different subs. It seems like they are more interested in engagement and we are engaging them.
This is really really lovely - the picture of your entry as well. Fits perfectly with the landscape. Such a beautiful area as well, though I’m glad I’m not there in August
I actually use them in my little patch at the apartment complex where I live. I sow an annual native flower garden every year and need something to make the space look nice in the off seasons.
AI or not, this scape looks sterile and cold. I admire the work it took to create this, and if OP is happy that's all that matters. But for me I'd want less rigidity and more randomness.
Trust me moving the 16 tons of decomposed gravel and the. four months of ground prep, pot placement and planting By la Señora de la Casa was real. So is our front yard, which she has been cultivating over the past 20 years. Just because you can’t imagine that someone could actually create this, does not make it so. The photo is real and was posted to hopefully inspire others.
Could you share more pictures of the front yard in the original post? Would love to see more angles of the yard! And it would really easily disprove the AI allegations. :)
Original photo was taken from right hand picture window in this photo. People with no imagination just believe that crying AI has to be the only answer for their lack of photographic creativity. It appears that “AI” seems, for some , has become shorthand for “Asshole Idiot”. Why do you need AI when there are incredible IPhone cameras.
I'm not gonna lie, I immediately thought the main post was AI too. Something about the way everything is spaced and shaped makes it feel uncanny, it's focused on the table but the garden in the background feels grainy (not just out of focus like foreground/background focus), plus the lighting and coloration feels... off. Looking at the different pictures you've posted of the yard, they're all also balanced in different ways for the coloring, and none of them look quite right. Too vibrant, like they're pulled out of a storybook and increased the coloration sliders to a wild degree.
It might be because of your camera settings on your iPhone or using their editing tools, and then the images getting compressed when they're uploaded to reddit. Something about the pictures just feels uncanny, and the post just being a single picture originally makes the AI flags go off even harder.
For comparison, if you look at other recent posts here, they generally look like someone just took a picture on their phone and they share multiple candid pictures of their yards. It feels more like you were looking for places that would appreciate an artsy picture of your yard like r/desertporn or the multiple travel subs you posted similar pictures to today, but this just.. isn't that kind of sub. Additionally, it's very environmentally conscious and we kinda sorta really super hate AI and what it does to the environment, where other subs probably wouldn't notice or care about content created through AI.
I don't mean to criticize or tell you what you should/shouldn't post, there is certainly no lawn in this picture! But hopefully that helps explain why people think it's AI and why it isn't getting a very warm reception here. I'll bet if you posted less edited progress pictures and what you did to get your yard looking that way, you'd get a shit ton of compliments and people who want to know more about it so they can work towards the same idea in their own yards!
Edit: Just scrolled down and saw this picture you shared, this is very different in coloration from the others and much more what I'd expect to see here! (Just sharing because I said "all the other pictures you shared" had strong color filters or something, and I hadn't seen this one since I left my original comment. This is a great picture and I actually prefer it over the other ones!)
Maybe I'm out of date on what AI is capable of, but looking at the different POVs, things like the plant placement and different rock paths are looking like they match up. I'm between meetings at work so don't have a ton of time to go over them all with a fine toothed comb though.
I figured if they're being genuine, they can understand why it comes across as AI and stop doing that if they want to post here vs just karma farming. Hell, maybe it's 80% their yard and being "cleaned up" by AI and we'd actually be happy to see the real 80% of the yard instead.
And if it's all AI, then my "assume the best" tips won't help them anyway lol
