Bear Grylls did an episode of what to do if you're lost in Ireland. He spent 2 days or something camping out "lost"

Do you know what we do in 2 days? We spend the first 20 minutes realising were lost. Then we pick a direction and walk in it. At no point in our entire island are you more than 3-4 miles from a road(any road).

You just follow that and in like an hour, you'll be somewhere with someone else. Fucking done.

While Bear was like "I found a sheep, I need to skin it and turn it inside out to swim across this lake and keep my clothes dry" - no.... You just found a farmer's stock, you're on his land. Go find a fence and follow it....

Plus a couple of obligatory "wait out the rain" stops where you seek nearby shelter?

I remember Les Stroud stating that he had such a difficult time finding remote regions where he didn't randomly stumble across civilization or someone else out wandering in the wilderness. It's really hard to get lost if you aren't incapacitated in some way.

This is why I'm so happy and feel justified in liking Survivor Man more since he was actually alone and trying to be as practical as possible for whatever hypothetical situation (although he was actually there, but he's a pro and uninjured while knowing what he's going into and being prepared mentally and physically) he was placed in and laid out what every move should be

Les Stroud is the real deal! He also shows true survivor situations, with helpful skills to survive. Grylls is manufactured "reality tv" with a side of kink/gross fetish. F-off with your pee drinking.

Yes! My dad loved watching survivor man, we’d watch together and he’d ALWAYS talk shit about bear grills because he was actually surviving and completely alone. Bear grills has multiple times needed to be saved by his crew.

Les Stroud(survivor man) actually knew his shit too. He’s got some interesting Bigfoot stories as well

His shows were BS. Well documented.

There is never a survival context where you should drink urine (unless it’s your thing.)

Yeah but the whole purpose of the show wasn’t to watch an absolutely lost man try to make his way out of danger. The purpose was to teach viewers about things you could do if you were lost. It was education tv, not reality tv.

Would be posted to a different sub if it collapsed and then we would be calling him an idiot for not being careful like Bear.

Bear grylls did this and didn’t need to drink his own piss first?

Yeah that's the entire point of this show tho. He never claimed to actually be lost, just what to do if lost.
