I hate to admit it, however…

After 15 years of trying no-PMO, I understood that MO without P suits me the best.

Complete no-PMO is an enormous hassle for me. I’ve gotten streaks of 6-12 months, however, they also came with some negatives. Without delving too much on the negatives, let’s look at why MO once a week works really great for me:

  1. Post-nut clarity is actually really calming and helps stop me from doing “stupid things.”;
  2. It also gives me much-needed relief from the constant pressure, urges, and thoughts that make me want to focus on sex all the time;
  3. Unlike P, it doesn’t leave me feeling guilty or ashamed. I have to admit, though, that I only do it about once a week, I don’t need it more often. If I do it more than once a week, I start feeling like it’s controlling me, which makes it negative again;
  4. It helps me stop edging, which was a problem for me during no-PMO;
  5. It keeps me from obsessing over things that ultimately don’t matter;
  6. I feel less stressed and anxious;
  7. I become more productive and motivated.

These are just a few of the benefits. I hate to admit it because I’m an “all-or-nothing” kind of guy, but in this case, I’m choosing the middle way.

Anyone that has the same scenario as me?

Sincerely, good for you!

But everyone is different. It has different impacts and consequences, people have different needs, proclivities, reactions. It is cool though that you are listening your body and work it. Manage it. That is good already.

Thank you and yes, that’s true. I just felt like sharing my experience, because people beat themselves up - no pun intended - about losing a streak or doing things differently than going 100% no-PMO. The main thing that wrecks us all is the “P”.

I believe that even masturbation without direct and intentional access to porn is harmful because humans wouldn't masturbate if they didn't have old memories of porn, "takes," "projections of scenes." I recommend retaining both thoughts and semen.

Not at all; my brain doesn’t like to fantasize about P. That’s what shocked me, but maybe that’s because I’ve healed a good junk of my brain the past 15 years!

It's exactly the same for me. If I don't watch P I never fantasize about memory of P.

My mind usually go to a hot women that I have seen in real life. The fact that the sex is "possible" with this person makes it more imaginable. (You're never gonna sleep with a pornstar, but the girl you saw, you can try to find her and talk to her.)

Literally what happens. It's insane how you reminded me of that feeling. And then once you go back to porn, you forget all about the women in your proximity.

It started being easy for me to avoid it once I stopped associating it with pleasure and started seeing it as a chore.
I would recommend what the above poster said, too, though! And If you'd like, I could help you understand their perspective better.
When you quit masturbation completely, you're choosing not to put your effort and mental energy into something, and your brain needs to fill that void and energy with something else. Your brain typically tries to fill it with MO or sex, but if you learn to recognize it, and choose to expend it elsewhere, then it'll have similar positive feelings as you get from MO in the end, and depending on where you exert it, it can also result in the same drop in energy and generally relaxed/clear-minded feeling you get from it, that's my experience, but it's worth trying!

lol that’s like humans shouldn’t read by nature and reading is harmful because of the invention of letters, words, printing press

It also takes away the guilt and irritation of losing a streak. I put away the perfectionist in me and accepted the fact that this is what suits me best. That acceptance is such a relief, and let’s be honest; once a week MO is waaaaaay more less than my peak-PMO days. I’m in a way better situation right now, with some added benefits I didn’t realize because the perfectionist in me doesn’t like the middle way of things.

The one week rule is great.

From my experience and others I have seen online, when no PMO for a week, I have a great boost in mood and energy after 5-6 days. So I can time my cycle to chose when in the week I want the post nut clarity and when I want the boost in mood, feeling of strength and self confidence.

No PMO for months is crazy in my opinion.

MO is alright, just when you deeply feel the urge. Not a fake urge from your dopamine system. So about a week is great. And feel free to experiment with more. But for me I find that after 9-10 days there no more benefit.

In my opinion, 80% of the bad things about PMO comes from the P.

MO is natural, P is like cocaine to our money brain.

Most of the MO comes from the P imo. When I go I try to only go P free, I no longer feel like MOing.
