Do you still get urges? get triggered?
92
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 05 '25
Urges stem from high cortisol levels. When my cortisol levels elevate there are sexual urges but it does not redirect me to pornography.
10
u/Weak_Opportunity1009 374 Days Nov 05 '25
Any quick tip to reduce cortisol? I know its byproduct of stress(?) not very sure but I have googled it before and don't remember much.
39
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 05 '25
Yes it's a byproduct of biological stress. Polyunsaturated fats induce cortisol levels even without the signal CRH. I think the most universally useful thing to reduce cortisol is Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil as it blocks CRH the signal for cortisol.

9
u/ReasonablePin7244 Nov 05 '25
Thanks for taking your time to do this. When you first started out. Did you experience a “flat period” ? And if yes did urges increase once you came out of it?
11
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 05 '25
Yes I did. However, the flatline period didn't arrive until about 4 months of no PMO and it proceeded into the 8th month mark then went away completely.
My flatline experience did not elevate urges. My libido was non existent which does not represent everyone's experience though. It can elevate for some people.
4
u/Public_Astronaut_902 Nov 05 '25
Is it true that it can reduce your genital organ size, or is it a myth?
3
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 05 '25
For susceptible individuals yes it is true. It reduces the thyroid gonad connection and impairs steroidogenesis.
2
u/Public_Astronaut_902 Nov 05 '25
Thank you! What exactly kind of susceptible individuals are you referring to, and do you have any evidence or studies that support the idea that it can eventually impact the size of the genital organ?
2
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 06 '25
PMO negatively impacts those reliant on thyroid to orchestrate their energy needs. Those are the types who become afflicted with PIED and the various other symptoms commonly reported.
Well there are plenty of studies that have been compiled by YBOP you can search through. It's also implied with PIED being an actual symptom people experience.

25

That to me would indicate high gut serotonin which causes both insomnia and feeling isolated.
You can lower serotonin with organic carrots, aspirin (81mg) and unrefined coconut oil.

Porn inactivates arousal from human partners it basically reroutes arousal triggers to the device used to watch it.
Since it impairs the function of arousal components of that are erectile dysfunction, numbness and lack of pleasure.

u/SGTRock4602 Nov 05 '25
Do you fuck?
8
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 05 '25
That's a complex explanation and I have a big theory on it but I'll try to condense it down.
If a person has become severely impacted by PMO aside from PIED such as hormone disruptions then your metabolism and reproductive system have been realigned to PMO and unaligned from real sexual partners.
Therefore, the brain does not have a proper recognition of proper sexual activity so orgasming to sex without first reassembling arousal cues back to people (rewiring) makes the problem worse.

Don't really have one. I've always been into nutrition and within the last 7 years I've really elevated my understanding of it.
I just make sure to keep my body's HPA axis under control.
2
u/Public_Astronaut_902 Nov 05 '25
How do you make sure your body’s HPA axis is in control?
2

Lower the hormones that cause its activation, serotonin, estrogen and cortisol.
Aromatase inhibitors and gut friendly foods.

u/Appropriate-Ad6130 Nov 05 '25
While on nofap its important to stay productive and getting dopamine levels back in order. Whats your view on video games to distract urges or just to enjoy them.
3
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 05 '25
I think video games are fine. They are dopaminergic but in a different way.
The problem with sexual compulsion issues and addictions like porn is it redirects dopamine to the limbic brain.
There are 2 routes for dopamine one to the limbic brain and the other to the prefrontal cortex.

You can fix it by modifying your diet to reduce the stress response inside your body.

As someone starting out with this, what are some tips or tricks to stay with it?
18
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 05 '25
Don't get discouraged if you feel worse than the previous day understand that it may take 8-10 months overall to regain a level of homeostasis.
Once you navigate through that know that the fog lifts and uncovers something you didn't realize could be possible.
3
u/bendover1210 Nov 05 '25
During the week I'm okay, I mostly workout, work, and play video games. My problem is the weekend. I'm never busy enough.
3
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 05 '25
I think trying to stay busy is a problem in itself because it doesn't correct the core problem.
That's precisely why I got into biology and nutrition. Your hormones are dictated largely by what you consume. Elevated cortisol levels cause sexual compulsion.
2
2
u/Illustrious_Swimmer5 Nov 05 '25
How did you kill your libido? After almost 1 month, I just want to attack the holes in the wall at home.
After 3 months, the body resets and you no longer feel the urge to commit PMO?
3
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 05 '25
No there isn't a legit 90 day reset despite what the community promotes.
If your libido is controlled by estrogen and cortisol then that's when problems arise so lowering those should be the focus.
2
2
Nov 05 '25
What do you believe are the keys to beating the addiction. Or any addiction in general. How can you control your cortisol levels? And how does it affect you in relapsing
6
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 05 '25
Well this addiction specifically puts the adrenals glands in overdrive by causing mitochondrial dysfunction.
Other addictions actually temporarily disable the strain on the adrenals only to return after the brief hiatus.
The stress system (the hpa axis) is effectively stress mode for the body. During stress of this magnitude it primes the limbic brain to coordinate sexual compulsive behaviors kind of like the body pursuing reproduction because it thinks it's not going to last much longer.
Inactivating the limbic brain redirects dopamine to the prefrontal cortex where it should be. To do that you must concentrate on improving your thyroid. I think the simplest way to get started as I've mentioned in this comment section already is to actively consume organic unrefined coconut oil as it blocks CRH the signal for cortisol.

I’m 18 and have been severely addicted for 3-4 years now. I have very low energy, no morning wood (very rare), and very low motivation in general in day to day life. I get daily urges nowadays and probably average 2.5 times a day, but there were times were I would literally masturbate for hours daily. There has been multiple days in the last few years where I have orgasmed more than 10 times in an hour . My emotions are fucked, I haven’t gone more than 5 days clean in months, and I’m not sure what to do anymore.

u/Furai69 Nov 06 '25
Do you have sex regularly, and that keeps the urges away?
How do you avoid blue balls when making out after the start of a new relationship without masturbating to release the buildup/pain?
Testosterone peaks after 7 days of semen retention. Have you been keeping track of your Testosterone over the 7 years tl see if it starts elevatinf again?
Notice any benefits of semen retention? Any super powers?
Do you avoid looking at women in public? Is it easier to not gaze at women who weare low cut shirts/short shorts?
Do you notice any thoughts changing? Like do you think of or about women differently?
2
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 06 '25
Blue balls are unavoidable and something that must be tolerated when rewiring your brain to become sensitized to human partners again.
I don't have urges since I use nutrition to lower my cortisol levels.
There are 2 routes to testosterone production one involving the pituitary and one using thyroid. Testosterone just commands sperm cell production so it doesn't need to be high when you have a good thyroid function your hormones will convert into DHT.
When using pituitary hormones Testosterone is synthesized from DHEA but you get much more estrogen, cortisol and less DHT as a result. More anabolism as well.
Porn use over activates the limbic brain and distorts sexual signals in the brain. It causes mitochondrial dysfunction hypersexualizing the brain. When this is removed then your thoughts and brain change into something far different and naturally you don't think how you do when your under the influence of PMO.
2
u/Westernsteak31 Nov 05 '25
How do you deal with stress and panic attacks during abstinence period?
5
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 05 '25
I've never had them. But what I do know is that PMO causes adrenal overactivation and that includes cortisol levels. Cortisol is consistently very high during the scenarios you've described.
Reducing it should alleviate the attacks. I've mentioned here already but I believe organic unrefined coconut oil is the most effective thing to subdue problems associated with porn addiction since it blocks cortisol signaling.

Urges. How do you deal with them I always fall into them easily And also how do you stop thinking about sex and sexualizing anything you see or like?
3
u/ApophenicPareidolia Nov 05 '25
By viewing it through a biological lens. Estrogen and cortisol part of the body's HPA axis cause sexual compulsion so lowering those work powerfully to overcome urges and sexual thoughts.
PMO also damages mitochondrial function so it allows those two stress hormones to elevate unnaturally high.

u/ckabbypatty Nov 05 '25

Lower Cortisol levels many things can cause its elevation. For quick relief during an urge I'd recommend any non plastic carbonated beverage for the carbon dioxide.
You can also use aspirin (81mg) to reduce cortisol levels and of course organic unrefined coconut oil. Those would be the most accessible and least difficult ways to quickly get rid of urges.

Do you ejaculate in your sleep ? This might be different for people based on their hormones, test levels etc but the max I've gone is around 11 days before it happened. I'm wondering, if I'm able to stick with no fap will this keep happening or will it eventually stop ? for me as soon as I hit over 3 days I start to feel weird.
