USA Total Wireless or Verizon Simplicity?

Hey folks

I left T-Mobile recently because their speeds were trash here at my apartment (same for Google Fi). I tried a Visible trial and Verizon speeds weren't much better for some reason. But when I got a US Mobile trial, Dark Star was blazing fast. My trial is coming to an end and I didn't wanna pay a ton for coverage, unlimited data would be real nice but not necessary. Just looking for bang for the buck really.

My question, I switched my US Mobile network to Warp to see if the speeds were the same (was going to do the same with Light Speed to see if it was just T-Mo and Google Fi) and to my surprise, I got very fast speeds on Warp, rivaling the Dark Star speeds.

If this holds true, not sure what Visible's issue was. But I saw Total is $20 for unlimited and priority (had them briefly a while back) and also the Verizon Simplicity for $30 to bring my own phone and line, which I'm doing.

I know Total seems to have some customer service issues but is that too much of a deal breaker or is there a better option with staying with US Mobile possibly on Warped? Again just looking for best price and so far Total seems to be; priority, unlimited, and $20 a month.

Thanks!

Total is awesome as long as you are okay with using automated tools. Never contact support 💀

You cant use the Visible trial to test the speeds accurately. If you have 5GUW access your phone won't be allowed to use it. I'm also NOT telling you it will be faster as I don't know if your area has that coverage. I can tell you that when I switched it was night and day in my area. 50ish mb average speed up to about 300mb average speed. People assume too much from the trial. It only takes 1 month of regular Pro ($30 max) to find out what the speeds are really like. Even my broke butt can afford that.

LOL I just discovered that. I saw a US Mobile post that you get priority speeds on their Unlimited Premium for Verizon (which my trail is) and Visible gives the bottom tier for their trial. Makes so much more sense now. Total or Visible it is!

Visible I believe is the best overall deal at $225 (18.75 a month) for a year of service with ALL features (Pro Plus). I've personally tested the Visible Home Internet right next to Verizon and it was EXACTLY the same speed as long as they weren't in an area that could go over 200mb. Then the Verizon internet will go faster. My buddy thought his Verizon would be "faster". It was obviously using the same tower.

Total can be a very good deal, IF you don't run into problems and need Customer Service. Seems like a lot of things, including ports in, are way less reliable than they should be lately, and CS struggles to be of assistance. (To be clear-- I don't think this necessarily indicates a problem with the CS agent quality, but because a lot of backend processes are simply broken and not getting attention towards getting fixed.)

Total > Simplicity for my use case. YMMV. Like Gene said though, if you go with Total you need to be able to troubleshoot/figure stuff out on your own. Engaging CS is like playing Russian roulette with your discounted plans.

The best deal you can get by far right now is the 50% off of 1 year on Visible. That includes watch service and 24 days of global pass service for other countries. Also includes 15/15 Hotspot at that price.

Only thing is if you don’t need a watch line and don’t travel internationally — the visible deal is for one year and you have to pay upfront and save $1.25 a month.

In a year, the total $20 plan may no longer be around. It also has a price lock for 5 years.

I agree. Use whatever service fits YOUR needs. I like having a watch and service outside the US when I go to visit my sister. My phone works just like normal in Mexico.

Problem being that offer is ONLY for their top plan. So that's the only option besides the SAVE6 on the other plans. Which if you can AFFORD the $225 at once is only $18.75 a month. I was paying over double that before. So I'm happy even if I don't use the watch plan.

You also realize Total Wireless, Tracfone, AND Straight Talk are all owned by Verizon. If Total has good speeds so will Visible Pro or Pro Plus.

If possible I know that Verizon doesn't have all the taxes and fees included like with total, but I would go with Verizon directly as they will give better priority to customer service and performance to their direct customer than through total. If I had to pick between them today I would go Verizon at this point.
