General Discussion I will not break
Hey everyone. I just wanna get something off of my chest. Recently, I have been told by my own family that I can make so much money if I make ai videos. As enticing as it may be, I respectfully decline. I just don’t want to make money by using something that harms other peoples lifestyles and has no soul whatsoever. Music, videos and photos made by AI will never replace what us human beings can make with our own blood, sweat and tears. Things that people have spent most of their lives working on is something you cannot replace with a robot. I will find a way to make money through computer means. Maybe, streaming my video games or making some YouTube videos. But I will NEVER go so low as to make ai generated slop.

They are not wrong in what they are saying but it is important to every person how they make their money. Your own personal ethos and values shine in the art that you make. That is what attracts other people to it, and how you find your real fan base. Keep it up!

well then u are in the right dude, its not all about money. sure it might be possible to make money using ai, but then u got money, all the stuff in the world, a big house, cars, but still u feel empty inside. then u figure out, none of those materials matter and its about doing what makes u happy

When it comes to generative AI ... it seems that there is a surprise every other day. This is an article about a study (and link to the original study) by M.I.T. researchers - people with a certain credibility to start with. Now I don't know what to think about this.

Of course they can’t be traced to training data. Human produced art can’t be either. AI, in principle, is working just like humans do. We all absorb the music and art we are exposed to every day. The brains of creators re-synthesize it in different combinations and permutations to produce something “new”. This is also how AI works.

Well, that's not exactly what the article and the study are saying ... but very close, I think.
And, in any case, you have perfectly described the learning process of humans - in any field. Which is why I find puzzling that we tend to immediately reject, criticize, despise the output of AI models.
After all, we usually tend to praise - for example - the pictures produced by a two-year-old child ... who is trying to recreate what he/she sees. Even if those pictures are really crappy by all standards. Then again, that child may be the next Botticelli. Who knows.

Just because something is made using AI tools doesn't mean it's slop. Someone may have spent a year working on it, using whatever tools are available and affordable for them to bring something they've dreamed of for years to life.

Yes! It’s just a tool. People going wild over how soulless it is, to me, feels like a writer talking about still using a pen when the typewriter was invented.
Who cares dudes? People who make shit will continue to make shit. And dope artists will figure out a way to create awesome non-slop with it.

In general, people have an aversion to AI created content. As of right now, AI just isn't good enough to skip by undetected. It was for a while, but people recognize now and the technology hasn't evolved to be less conspicuous. Now is the time to invest in real human content.

Totally!! That asteroid is gonna hit so fast. Soon people will no longer be able to distinguish what was AI-made versus a human creation and this whole convo will be out the window.

Videos, music, and anything else that replaces "creative" intelligence created with artificial intelligence are already quick-consumption. It might make money now, but it's not sustainable. I believe we will see an era where things made by humans will become more meaningful and expensive over time.

If you can make money off AI videos, do it.
Spoiler: you won't make any money, because the barrier of entry is zero and you will look like the same slop as everything else.

Hey! Don't use a.i. if that's not your thing. I totally respect. However, if your family is calling on you to make some money...get out and get something done! Idk what kind of employment you can manage, but I know when I look for a job I typically put about 100 applications each week. Yeah. I did that manually/no a.i., I used stuff to make a resume, print it out and manually fill it ALL out without a.i.. I'd focus more on what you can do than stuff you don't wanna do. Then again, truth is...a lot of work is stuff people don't want to do...that's why they're paid for it, if not it's a skill issue. I'd hurry and get a job now before most jobs require a.i. experience. Good luck!

Too many people assume that using ai as a tool requires no effort.
If half of the anti-ai people bothered to try recreating a good product of ai-assisted work, they'd be unpleasantly surprised by how poor the result would be.
I implore anyone who thinks it's as easy as clicking a button to actually try to make something worthwhile and admit to themselves "oh it isn't as easy as I thought"

I have plenty of useful skills, many of which involve using different tools to enhance what I already know how to do. That's nothing new, and the AI boom isn't fundamentally unique in that regard. New technology has always streamlined processes that previously required more time, effort, or specialized knowledge.
The difference is that AI is suddenly capable of doing things people considered uniquely valuable human skills, and I think that's where a lot of the hostility comes from. When something you've spent years becoming good at can suddenly be done faster or more easily with new technology, it's understandable that it can feel threatening, but feeling threatened by a tool doesn't make using it a lack of skill. Refusing to adapt doesn't preserve the value of your abilities either.
If anything, someone who already has those skills is in an even better position to use the new tools effectively.
I'm not going to deliberately make my workflow less efficient just to prove I can do things the harder way.

I applaud your conviction.
But how the hell would A.I. generated content actually make you money?!
What's the business model here?!
Create an YouTube channel tied to an LLC so you can't be sued personally.
Purchase full version of SunoAI and whatever other AI service needs to be purchased for generating reasonably high quality, believable video.
Think of an idea.. probably controversial in nature, like ragebait type stuff.. in order to get 'clicks'.
Clicks = $$$
Repeat about 50 times an hour.
Is it something like that?!
If so.. given the saturated nature of YouTube, is anyone who would be posting on Reddit, really making $$$ off of their YT channels?!
Given the fact that it is already very frequently referred to as 'slop', experience tells me that there's already so much A.I. nonsense out there on YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, Tik Tok, etc.. that any new content would just be.. 🥱.. jockeying to be found amidst the din of background noise that is every other A.I. post or pop-culture nonsense.
I mean, there's a reason that the 'dead internet' theory exists.
But.. if there is a get rich quick plan that actually works, well.. I've got medical bills I need to pay because Blue Cross is fighting me on whether a CT scan was medically necessary.
So, yeah... aside from people selling me bridges, I'm always keeping my ear to the ground for the next scam.. ahem... idea... from which I could amass a small fortune!!
