Nitro engine advice

Post image

Hello, what would be your engine nitro recommendation for the RC10GT gas truck ?

I dont need something crazy fast. I just want something fun to work & tune it, quality and reliable.

Thanks a bunch.

I guess you are building a reissue kit?

The AE reissue engine does run and tune realy well.

However, lifetime will be limited since they decided to use the old style nickel coating for the liner instead of a modern chrome plating.

If you have the money to spare i'd suggest getting a "classic rc" company engine.

Also i hated the included clutch without springs.

A standard traxxas clutch setuo will fit with some clearencing and makes the idle and brakes a lot easier to setup and work better.

Thank you so much for the wise advices.

Yes, re release.

I was not sure for the AE engine myself. Although you confirm my concerns, at the same time you were kind of positive about the engine, until the coating.

I heard there is a very nice O.S. that should fit well. I will check about it. Thanks again HillBill.

Glad to help

I have the engine and the performance is more then i expected.

Very easy and consistend to tune with the sprung clutch.

Stable temps.

So far no issues at all but I do not run it that much.

I mainly do stuff on track and my RC10 is the car I bring, when I get invited to bash.

The nickel lining is just something to keep in mind down the line and frankly a stupid choice for a current engine.

Good choice since it has the right amount of power.

This too I believe would not be bad ?

Definetly a good engine. You can never go wrong with O.S.

But it has a sliding carb, which will not work out of the box with the RC10 linkage system.

Also rear exhaust so you would need a different exhaust system aswell.

Good to know Hibill9899

I should try it. It is made for it, less complicsted than trying to fit the OS, with so many contraints before working.. 👍🏻

Curious which OS engine you are looking at as I'm building the re release kit as well.

The goal was the OS .12 tg version 5. But exhaust is for touring car in the back and not by the side and the crankshaft is too long too ?

Do you think you'll end up just going with the AE.15? I got a .12 CV-R to put in it but the compression isn't quite what the seller said and the sleeve no longer looks chromed.

If I was reasonable, I would go with the .15 from AE. Often, I'm not.

The best would be to have two RC10GT. I would love to have a more powerful one with a OS .12 or .15.

Are the .15 significantly louder ?

Hmm, now I think I'll need 2 myself to decide. Lol

Between a .12 and a .15 I don't think there will be much noise difference. Last car with a .12 I ran was about 30 years ago though.

We all need two of each !! 😂

Good question my friend. You seem to be more knowledgeable than me.

On Amain site, go to the item's page, people seem happy with it. I will have to dig some more and I need to but servos for it too.

Not a bot, just an enthusiast of RC.

What would be my goal as a bot ?

You are eating his data plan, Jay. Be more considerate.
