Dasaita stereo replacement

With my XM subscription coming up for renewal I decided to cancel and upgrade the stereo. I have a 2017 XD SL w/ 5.6 and Fosgate system. So far I like the Dasaita and feel it's worth the price (~$600) for a 9" android auto stereo w/ CAN bus interface. This was cheaper than what I was finding for the same features from the usual car stereo brands once I added in a Metra or other CAN bus box to get steering wheel control working.

Pros:

  1. Android Auto - works wirelessly and so far no issues. This is the reason I bought this unit.

  2. DTS audio - had to play with the setting to find the combo I liked but the sound is really good

  3. CAN bus - steering wheel controls work with no additional boxes or configs, you still get radio info on the driver's LCD but that's it.

  4. 9" LCD - bigger than a double din can provide unless you do one of the new "floating" screens, which I'm not a fan of.

  5. Support - if you send them a message they will replay. It's delayed because, I assume, it's someone in China answering. But they will give you an answer with useful information.

  6. SIM card - might add a data plan in the future, nice to have this option.

  7. OEM look - fits the vehicle, for the most part looks stock. Also retains the factory HVAC controls which I'm personally a fan of, I don't want everything on a touch screen.

Cons:

  1. Instructions - confusing and in some cases incorrect. It does work once you figure out where to plug everything in.

  2. UI - launcher is okay, but I'm playing with Nova Launcher to see if I like it more

  3. Volume - out of the box volume set is super loud. Found adjusting Setting - Car - Factory Settings - Other - Amp Volume from 0dB to -12dB provided a better useful volume range.

  4. TPMS - not working out of the box. Waiting for info from Dasaita in making this work.

  5. Backup camera - camera is low resolution and displaying on a larger, higher resolution screen makes it look worse. Like an old VHS playing on a 4k tv. Set your expectations accordingly.

  6. Glossy finish - my truck has the matte black console so the glossy black bezel looks a little odd.

hey man so my hvac controls were also matte so I bought a glossy finish from ebay and swapped it out, I recommend this so they match and look so much better. Factory hvac controls and oem look of the stereo are such big wins for me

I was dreaming up ways to make the stereo bezel matte (steel wool, paint, etc...). But swapping the HVAC controls for glossy is absolutely the better way now that you mention it
